I suppose the trip to Hollywood for the making of "A sheriff Without A Gun"
has been mentioned. But on the bus to Ceaser Romero's house Opie (?) states
he's from Mayberry, NC. The bus driver is from the close by town, the name
of which escapes me.

Once again I have to take my hat off to Allen for all he does to keep the
digest the wonderful place it is. When I started seeing political and
religious thoughts being expressed on the digest I looked over at my husband
and said: "We'll be hearing from Allen soon." Sure enough the next digest had
a note from him to keep us all on the straight and narrow. Then I read the
latest digest and saw where he had to sign about 400 folks back on the digest
after an AOL snafu, and my admiration of him climbed even higher.

Thanks again Allen.

Honeymoon in Mt. Airy? Weird? I don't think so. What's wrong with
spending your honeymoon in your own hometown? If I could, I'd move there
permanently. I love that place. That would be a great 20th Anniversary
gift for
Martha and I.......second honeymoon in our hometown. No, Jesse, your
idea of having a honeymoon in Mt. Airy isn't weird at all. After all, look at
that couple that got married in Mt. Airy last Mayberry Days. They sure didn't
think it was wierd, as a matter of fact, from what I hear, they had a blast
at it.

Hi fellow fans,
This may have already been pointed out, but yesterday I caught a song on the
radio by Rascal Flatts called "Mayberry". It was so great,

I posted about that song last week. Didn't get any replies tho. I agree.
It is a great song. I hear it played alot now. TAGS must have made an
impression on the songwriter to put the show into words of a song!. I wonder
if Andy
has heard it. It's a country song and he listens to country.

Here are the lyrics.............

Artist: Rascal Flatts Lyrics
Song: Mayberry

Written By: Arlos Smith

Sometimes it feels like this world is spinning faster
Than it did in the old days
So naturally, we have more natural disasters
From the strain of a fast pace
Sunday was a day of rest
Now, itbs one more day for progress
And we canbt slow down bcause more is best
Itbs all an endless process

Chorus
(Well) I miss Mayberry
Sitting on the porch drinking ice-cold cherry Coke
Where everything is black and white
Picking on a six string
Where people pass by and you call them by their first name
Watching the clouds roll by
Bye, bye

Sometimes I can hear this old earth shouting
Through the trees as the wind blows
Thatbs when I climb up here on this mountain
To look through Godbs window
Now I canbt fly
But I got two feet that get me high up here
Above the noise and city streets
My worries disappear

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge
Sometimes I dream Ibm driving down an old dirt road
Not even listed on a map
I pass a dad and son carrying a fishing pole
But I always wake up every time I try to turn back

(Repeat Chorus)

Bye, bye
(I miss Mayberry, I miss Mayberry)

Jessi asked about The Dillards and spending her
honeymoon in Mt. Airy.

The Dillards aren't very many performances these days.
I wasn't there, but Rodney and Doug performed at the
last Mayberry Days. It's my understanding that Mitch
is no longer playing bass for The Dillards. When I
last saw them at Mayberry in the Midwest summer 2002,
Mitch said that he couldn't hear to play bass anymore
and asked the audiences permission to talk about
Denver Pyle. They had a bass player from Arkansas
that show, but I don't know his name.

As for spending your honeymoon in Mt. Airy........some
might think it's weird..........we have a member on
here, and I don't recall her name, who can tell you
EXACTLY how weird it is, since she got married this
past fall at Mayberry Days in Mt. Airy.

Jessi, I think that's perfectly normal, too -- and a wonderful idea! If my
darling hubby and I can ever afford a second honeymoon, I will suggest this to
him!

Just had to share that I have a resipe for Possum Pie that always gets me a
look and a quizzical eyebrow. It has NO possum in it but the name surely get
attention. It's really a combination of graham cracker crumbs, sugar,
eggs, etc.,but the name ............well I guess folks just want to be sure
before they take a bite.Anyway, had to chuckle,Carol, cause I'm southern born and
bred and I've never eaten nor do I plan to ever knowingly taste any
possum.Though I have been known to eat other critters such as
squirrel,rabbit,and deer.Guess that's livin'off nature like Barney and Goober
did when they got lost,huh?!
As for the contoversial discussions of late,I'm sure noone meant any harm, but
the surest way to ruffle feathers is to discuss politics or religion.Better to
stick to more pleasant subjects like whether anybody ever figured out how to
get Ernest T. to stop throwin' rocks,or how Malcolm made that wonderful paper
tree,or the real reason that Aunt Bee's pickles tasted like
kerosene.............you know the really important questions that inquiring
minds want to know.
Now go out there and act like somebody!

Speaking of "Angel in my Pocket"...does anyone know wher a person can get a
copy? I have never seen it in VHS or DVD, but I sure would like a copy.
