Subject: BARNEY CAPTURES SADDAM PICTURE
Date: Sun, 1 Feb 2004 06:44:32 -0600
I've had many requests for the picture showing Barney capturing Saddam.
There were so many, that I posted the picture at a Web Page:
www.geocities.com/garry_dashner/night_vision2.html
Please go to that site for the picture as I am getting way more requests
than I expected.
I do not know who came up with the picture. I got it from somebody else at
the WBMUTBB, but I can't remember who it was because my computer crashed. I
restored it, but all the files were lost.
Thanks, Garry

We mustn't forget Jack Dodson (Howard Sprague). When he was first introduced
to the show he was an insurance man wearing a regular tie. Subsequently, he
became Howard the county clerk. Not sure if this quite fits in with what you
were looking for, but thought I would throw it in anyway. Then of course
Howard Morris was the tv repairman in one episode and then was transformed to
the
infamous Ernest T. Bass. And of course Goober's girlfriend Flora came to
Barney's class reunion as Netty.
Ken
I can only think of one explanation of all these double appearances.
"It must be the bomb."

>Has there ever been anything pertaining to dentists, tooth aches and the

Opie decided on dentistry (after deciding which college he and Arnold wanted
to attend - remember they were discussing where their offices were going to
be?) Then Helen accepted a second helping of dessert and bit into a piece of
nut shell. Andy tells her if she can wait til Opie gets his license, she
might get special service. Course we know Opie became Mayberry's newspaper
editor.
I know exactly what Helen felt when she bit down on the nut shell - I once
bit a frozen Mars bar and shattered three teeth......Life's lesson, number
101 - "Never bite into a frozen candy bar after you turn 40!!!!!" ( I bet
Calvin Coolidge said that!)
Harriet, I keep telling my chickens going uptown ain't no big

Re: Is there anywhere that I can get every TAGS episode ever made on
DVD?
In a perfect world, yes; but in this one, alas, no. At least, not yet.
There were 32 episodes in season three, and for some reason, the last
16 episodes of that season (the second half of the season) are the only
ones in release. It's because those episodes are in the "public
domain". I'm not rightly sure why that is. Any of you smarter
Mayberrians know why only those 16 were effected by this and how they
came to be so?
The last few weeks have shown the release (by season, mind you) of
various and sundry old sitcoms such as "Gilligan's Island" and "Green
Acres". Now I like Gilligan and Oliver Wendall Douglas just as much as
you (if not more!) but I've got to ask myself the question "what's up
with that?!?!" Wherefore art thou, Andy?

Mike:
The next time TAGS episode "Convicts at Large" is on TV (Barney and Floyd are
held
prisoner by Big Maude and her two co-escapees) watch the scene closely where
Barney
gets Big Maude to dance with him so he can get her outside and into Andy's
cuffs.
As she outweighs our hero by about 50 lbs. BM is leading and slinging Barney
around
the dance floor keeping him from getting her outside. He gives her a romantic
look and
says to her "Just relax and let me guide you to the land of rhythm and
pleasure"
To me that is one of the funniest line in all of TV comedy and I try to use it
whenever possible!
Its 2 hours "til kickoff so I'm gonna grudginly wish you and you team good
(but not too much) luck. Carolina Panthers Super Bowl champs has a much better
ring than the
alternative.

I guess it was Super Bowl Fever that made me put the wrong last name on the
"Land of rhythm
and Pleasure" message. Sorry about that Mike.

To answer ralph's question, Also superman was filmed on the back lot of the
mayberry scene area, the episode was called deserted village.
Also Gone with the wind was filmed on the back lot just outside of mayberry.

Just caught something in this episode I had never noticed before.
When Otis first goes into the cell after coming in drunk he calls Andy to get
some water and Andy takes the key down from the wall puts it into the cell
door
and takes the water to Otis. When he comes out he doesn't remove the key from
the cell door, he just closes it. But when Otis calls to Andy to read him a
bed time story
Andy again has to take a key down from the wall to open the door.
Also in the episode Deputy Otis when Otis's brother Ralph comes to visit we
see Otis's
wife (played by Amzie Strickland) for the first (and only?) time. I was
checking her out really for the first time and she
reminds me of the actress who played Miss Almira Gulch (Margaret Hamilton) in
the Wizard of
Oz. They could almost be sisters.
I checked the IMDB and found these other appearances of Amzie in TAGS
playing "Myra Tucker" in episode: "Aunt Bee on TV" 15 November 1965
playing "Myra Tucker" in episode: "The Bazaar" 11 October 1965
playing "Lila Sims" in episode: "Barney Fife, Realtor" 4 January 1965

>>>I know that [the 40 Acres] back lot was also used for Gomer Pyle, Star
Trek, Hogan's Heroes, and the Real McCoys, as well as a number of movies.
Has anyone ever compiled an exhaustive list of these Mayberry sightings?
>>>
Here's a fantastic article about The Andy Griffith Show and the history of
the 40 Acres back lot, where TAGS was filmed:
http://www.radoknews.com/andy-griffith-show.html
Also be sure to check out www.jimnolt.com. This site is mostly concerned
with the old Superman TV show, which also used the 40 Acres lot.
It's believed that the last production shot at 40 Acres was 1975's
"Switchblade Sisters," which is available on DVD. It's a rotten movie, but
it's fascinating (and at the same time, very sad) to see how the place
looked just before the lot was bulldozed.
