It dawned on me that there could be some kind of rights issue, or some kind
of behind the scenes negotiations to get the surviving regulars to be
interviewed for a documentary that would be used as an "extra." Of course,
when you
email the rights holders like Paramount or Columbia House you get a terse reply
that wouldn't mention any of these things.

I just noticed a blooper on the episode where the fun girls appear (and where
Goober and Gomer are shown together for the only time). During the episode you
can catch a glimpse of a movie poster outside the cinema and it is advertising
a movie starring "Gary Grant." I looked carefully to make sure it was not an
exagerrated "C" but it really appeared to be a "G." Now I am absolutely no
movie expert (although I do know it was William Holden in Picnic), but I could
swear his name was "Cary" not "Gary." Am I right???

I believe 1939 comes a way long before 1960............should have read TAGS
was filmed on the backlot where GWTW was filmed ;)

Amzie Strickland played Ralph's wife, Verlaine. In addition to those
appearances listed at IMDB she was also Miss Rosemary in "Andy the Matchmaker".
Otis's wife, Rita, is played by Dorothy Neumann not only in this episode but
also in "Ellie for Council" and "A Plaque for Mayberry".

I wish people would quit referring to our Hometown as "was", "mythical",
etc.

Mayberry IS my Hometown.

Ted

I don't think Calvin Coolidge would've said "mythical"! (and he said pretty
much everything according to Floyd)

Every year at the Portland zoo, they put both kinds of Super Bowl jerseys in
the Chimps cages to see which one a certain chimp will try on to see if the
one he tries on is the one of the winner of the Super bowl. He picked the
correct one last year & I believe he picked the Patriots this year. Sounds
like something Barney would come up with.

Gavin McCloud was in a couple of episodes. One he was a theif and the other he
was an actor who was going to portray Andy. If I'm thinking right, both
episodes mention "sherrif without a gun" and both involve the making of Andy's
life into a movie.

Can you imagine Otis duking it out with Rita? Thin and delicate as she was,
she seemed to get the better of him. Maybe he should have cooked the leg of
lamb (Andy's favorite dish) then sneaked out of the house while she and her
mother were having dinner.

Suzanne and I were very fortunate to attend the surprise birthday party for
our own "Floyd" - Russell Hiatt of Floyd's City Barbershop in beautifully
sunny but snow covered Mt. Airy this past Saturday at the Snappy Lunch. It
was a wonderful surprise for Russell who made a point of going around the
crowded room and thanking each person individually for attending. He enjoyed
inviting everyone back so "we can do this again next year!". Charles Dowell
was a little short handed due to an employee illness, so he told us it would
be mostly self service but to "help ourselves". What do you know, a crash
course and on the job training to be a server at the legendary Snappy Lunch!
A delicious cake was served with Russell doing the honors of cutting the
cake. A special thank you goes to Ann Vaughn, Executive Director of the
Gilmer - Smith Foundation and the Mount Airy Visitors' Center/Andy Griffith
Museum
who not only made sure Russell was in the right place at the right time
to walk into the
surprise party, but who also did an excellent job of "waitressing" and
making sure everyone's order was filled and that everything went so
smoothly. It may have been cold outside, but the warmth inside the Snappy
spent with Mayberry friends was priceless. Another all too short few hours
with some wonderful folks.

What episode did Ernest T (or actually Howard Morris) turn up as a TV
Repairman.
I don't remember seeing this. I wonder how he refrained from throwing a rock
thru the set?

Remember folks...on the Mayberry.com web site there is a Searchable "Cast
Member/Episode Database." Just go to that link on the front page and you can
search for "Morris" and get the answer to this question as well as a lot of
others....truthfully....that's what I do when I'm not sure.
