Yeah, I know it's an old bit of trivia, but since the episode was on last
night, I thought I'd bring it up. In the epilogue, Barney and Andy sing the
alma mater for Mayberry Union High. What are the team colors?

Hey, I've been looking for somebody to paint my house and I was on Main
Street in down from the Grand this morning and ran into Newton Monroe. He
said he was in the business now. Anybody familiar with Newton's work? He
said his specialty was front porches.

Currituck is the North Carolina county just north of where Andy lives in
Manteo. Just another way to say 'hey' to friends back in his homestate.

Regarding the distance to Wally's, didn't Opie race Cynthia to Wally's one
time? Seems like they were in Town, and Opie said "I'll race you to that tree
down there." They sprinted the whole way, and when they got there, Goober had
seen them running and I think they had a bottle of pop. Also, they went to jump
over the oil pit and Opie fell in. Anyway, seems it couldn't be too far if they
sprinted all the way there....

Debbie thank you so much for sharing your pictures of Andy, Aunt Bee and Arnold
with all of us. I loved the ones of Andy at the statue dedication. How
excited you must have been to have our Andy say Hi to you!!! WOW!!! What a
wonderful memory you will have to hold on to.
Hey Richard, didn't Charles Thompson/Asa also play the doctor who "hung" Barney
in the closet so he could be taller?? I love the scene from that episode where
Opie and the other boys are on the porch peeking in at Barney.

Okay, this one needs a clue. My original question was:
>During the final season of TAGS, what TV star (who had a TV series on
>> CBS at the time) made a one episode cameo appearance.
>
Ronnie Schell is a good guess, but I don't think he would be considered
a "TV star" at the time. His appearance on the fur coat episode may or
may not be considered a cameo because of the good amount of screen time
he had in that one. So, let's rule out Ronnie Schell.
This TV star was on the episode no more than two seconds. No, it's not
Teri Garr. Hope this helps.

>>>Anybody else getting their exercise walking to Wally's? dan
In the mistitled episode "Opie's Girlfriend" (the one where Helen's visiting
niece can do almost everything better than Opie), Opie and Cynthia have a
foot race from the Taylor house to the filling station. This episode adds
considerably to the confusion of where the filling station is supposed to
be, because they start in front of the Taylor house, and Opie points to the
right (for us viewers, it's the left) and says "Do you see that big tree
down there by the filling station?" If you ran in the direction in which
Opie pointed, after half a block you'd crash headlong into the side of the
courthouse.

>>>A question, if George was the tv repairman, what happened to Orville from
the earlier episodes that ran the combination funeral parlor/tv repair shop,
as well as Emmitt, the fix-it shop guy?
Orville just sort of disappeared after the first season. Emmett didn't move
to Mayberry until season eight (he moved into the recently vacated Floyd's
barber shop).
>>>Besides playing Ernest T., George the tv repairman, and directing several
episodes, didn't Howard Morris also provide several radio voices on the
show?
Yes, his voice can be heard on the radio in some of the episodes he
directed. Outside of Maybery, he's had an extensive career doing voiceover
work for cartoons and commercials.

The dialog between Barney and the mailman (played by Dub Taylor) is really
sharp if you haven't paid close attention. Dub shares a couple of little known
facts regarding the authority of mailmen. First, he reminds Barney that he has
limited authority when it comes to mail, but Dub is a "fed." Second, when
Barney gets mad and threatens to ticket the mailtruck, Dub advises that a
mailtruck supersedes police, fire and ambulance as long as it is carrying a
registered letter.
Good writing.

Hey maybe Mayberry had a circuit Dentist like the
