Well by the time you read this, the contest will be about over.

Its really interesting how many different approaches were taken. Some
related to the here and now, while others enjoyed reflecting back on what
was. Some are philosophical, while others were humorous. But all are
genuine and heartfelt and my hats off to all contestants.

Voting for one is indeed very difficult, and that may be part of the low
turnout...so many good ones its tough to decide..

I wondered if it was better to submit early or late. For a while, it seemed
as the early entries would have the same odds as Floyd in the pansy flower
contest, but then the deadline was extended and they just kept coming. So
did the early birds have it easy because it was easy to be original..or did
the late ones have the advantage of seeing most of the competition and being
inspired by them, and then trying their own variation. The result so far
show that it was really pretty spread out (they are posted In order of
submission).

Many thanks to Allan and the generous prize sponsor. If you ain't been
there yet, you don't know what you're missin. Even if you can't decide,
give 'em all a read. Congrats to all submitters for the fine work.

"The orange and blue will try, try, try, try....." Mayberry's school colors
were (are) orange and blue. I once won a trivia contest on this question on the
radio. The DJ said "this one is real hard," but as the first caller I got it
right and he was dumbfounded.....

The school colors are mentioned in the song - orange and blue.....just like
the other great school, UF............we have a saying here in "the swamp"
territory.....God must be a Gator cause the sky is blue and the sun is
orange. Can be said about Mayberry too.

He should have kept to selling bad furs and transistor radios.

Take it from me, he is not "ept" at house painting.

Hey Everybody!!

Mayberry Union High colors were blue and orange. Newton is either a traveling
salesman or God forbid, trying to paint.

In reality, if you really wanted to take a walk to Wally's Filling Station on
the Forty Acres Lot, it would be very good exercise. The most direct route
there is to walk down Main Street past the Mayberry Courthouse, Floyd's
Barbershop, the Mayberry Hotel, and the Mayberry Grand Theater. Continue
straight
through another block of buildings. Hang a left. Walk past the train station on
your right. Stroll past the 'Garden of Allah' set and turn right. Wally's
Filling Station is amongst the clump of trees. The "Gomer" huts are just across
the
road. Hope this helps!
Actually, this would have made a great place for biking and cycling. Call it
the 'Tour de Mayberry.' You could circle the perimeter of Forty Acres a couple
times and cut across the various streets. How about a Mayberry 10K run?

If you have Newton Monroe paint your house, make sure to specify that he use
ordinary paint. He painted my mom's front door and it looked great, but he
must have used temporary paint because now it's peeling off.

He's ept!

Not only that, but in Currituck county, just east of the mainland is a

Yeah, I know it's an old bit of trivia, but since the episode was on last
night, I thought I'd bring it up. In the epilogue, Barney and Andy sing the
alma mater for Mayberry Union High. What are the team colors?

Orange and Blue, of course!

Mayberry Union High
Victory is yours well nigh
We'll hit the line
For points every time
The orange and blue will
try, try, try, try!

And when the victory's won
You'll be our favorite son
Proud waves your banner
In the sky!
Mayberry Union High!

It's funny, I know this alma mater but can't remember my own high school alma
mater!

I ran across an interesting fact. It seems that there is an EAST FIFE FOOTBALL
STADIUM in England. Of course, they call soccer football. But, now we know
where some of BARNEY'S ancestors came from.

Luck to you and yours, GARRY
