On Monday, February 16th, at 4 PM EST, a show tiled City Confidential
"Lynchburg" aired on A&E. If you get a chance to see this episode in a
future rerun, please pay close attention to the flag on the sheriff's
office wall. It reads 'Mayberry Sheriff', complete with the Mayberry
squad car badge in the center of the flag. The colors are blue and
gold. Does any one know where this flag can be purchased?

Thank you, Jim

I saw something on TV over the weekend that I wondered if anyone has ever
seen. I was flipping though the channels because TAGS wasn't on. I came
across the show "King of Queens." I don't remember what the show was about
but the wife of the show was upset with her husband. In an attempt to cheer
her up, he pulled up his shirt and pretended his navel was whistling the
TAGS theme. Although I was a little weird it was kind of funny. I just love
any reference to TAGS!

On another note.... in the TAGS episode Up in Barney's Room I get a kick
out the way Andy and Barney keep walking around that hanging light. What a
hoot!!!

OK one more e-mail from me today. I just wanted to mention something about
our own Floyd, Allan Newsome.
I got the pleasure of finally meeting him at Mayberry Days last year.
Anyway, he does such a wonderful job at being Floyd that I now have trouble
logging on to the WBMUTBB Digest Archives. I get the Floyd part right for
the user name but for the password I often type Newsome. I did it again
today and it takes me a few seconds to figure out what I'm doing wrong when
it won't let me log on.

Allan Lawson... Floyd Newsome????? One in the same!!!

Thanks again Allan for bringing a little a bit of Mayberry to us every
day!!!!
Jennifer

I think the elimination of this line is a direct response from the animal
rights movement. Another example is Briscoe's line in Briscoe Declares for
Aunt Bea" that we never hear any more...The boys whipped the worst supper you
ever did see. "Purfectly good hoot owl....just plum wasted." Just food for
thought. We can't be disrespecting those critters.

Also, referring to Gomer and the gun in mouth line....I can't remember the
episode, but Barney was admonished for putting his gun in his mouth too at some
point.

Noooooooogatuck!!!!!

That's a very good question, I can't for the life of me remember any big
"guest appearance" by Lassie. If it's just a collie who looks like her, I have
to
cry "foul" and question whether that's really Lassie (and thus, a fair answer
to a trivia question). Remember other lookalike collies have popped up in
other episodes, and I think one of Opie's wandering dogs in "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs"
may have even been a collie. If it was really Lassie I am sure the show
would've made a bigger deal out of it.

Just wanted to chime in with one of my favorite scenes which always seems to
be missing. I think it is from the episode "Otis Sues The County" (I
haven't seen it in so long I'm not even sure anymore). It is the scene
where Floyd relates the story of Otis once falling down a well. It's
classic Floyd. A great scene. Unfortunately its also seldom "scene".

Reference Dan Goodwin's favorite flub. I have never noticed that before.
Very cool. I noticed Miss Crump look down at it for a moment before
approaching Andy's desk. Barney, after stepping around the book, glances
back towards the book. I continued to watch. Opie just about loses the
book load over the banister but recovers as he indiscreetly pushes the
bottom book back under the "secured" stack. The screen goes to Andy and
then back to Opie. The loose bottom book is gone. But, the book appears
again when they sca-daddle out of dodge. It falls because it was not
secured. Pretty cool stuff to notice. Dave "opie" in Indiana

  Hey Folks,

I have NO idea what this message means. I'm guessing it's a "spam" or a

Since nobody got the answer to what episode Lassie appeared in, here's
the answer:

In "Sam For Town Council", Lassie is shown with Emmett in a dream
sequence of what Emmett's campaign might be like.

I'm speculating that since Lassie had a CBS series at the time, he was
on loan from CBS for the appearance with Emmett.

They didn't show it in the episode, but I once saw Al Becker in Norman's
Groceteria with a shaved collie that could have been Lassie. You
remember - don't you? Mrs. Spears was there. Heck fire, you know Al
Becker, right? Oh, you don't - nevermind then, it don't make much of a
story unless you know Al Becker.

Thank you so much for your prayers and messaages of love. My hubby has
survived a week past what the surgeon predicted; he is functioning with
the help of a ventilator and some meds but has come a long way. If he
makes it past the the infection we will still have the cancer to fight as
whatever he was given for chemo obviously did nothing. But we are girded
up for battle and trust that the Lord's will be done. Being a part of
this Mayberry family surely is a blessing and I will never forget your
kindnesses.

Subject: Barney and Money
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I enjoyed one of my favorite episodes tonight, "Up in Barney's Room" and it
brought to mind that nagging question. How much money did Barney make as
deputy? I have always felt that poor Barney must have been either the most
underpaid deputy or else the world's worse money manager. He was around 35
years old
and all he could afford was a $6.00 a week room (Then reduced to $5.00)
Thelma Lou could afford a very nice house as well as Helen. And even Otis with
his
expensive hobby and a job as a glue dipper had a nice house. Barney had no
car expenses, very little clothes expense except at the Goss Cleaners, and we
know he didn't spend much money on Thelma Lou because they always went Dutch
treat. When it did come time to buy a car later on, he had but $300 saved.
And
that was after working and being in the army for around 18 years since
graduating from high school.
We do know that in episode 19 he did make some money when he invested in the
record company. So what did Barney do with all his money? My theory is that
he must have diversified in the stock market and then lost it all. He also
could still have been making payments on the septic tank he gave his parents
for
their anniversary, or, and I save the best for last, he was very generous
when putting money in the collection plate on Sunday mornings. After all, he
did
wear his uniform to church one Sunday and claimed it was because there was a
lot of money in the collection plate lately. So does anyone have any thoughts
on what Barney did with his money? Then again, if we figure he was also
seeing Juanita on the sly, that may cost him a bit now and then.
Ken
