Someone was wondering what episode that Andy told Gomer, "And get that gun
out of your mouth" it was "The Big House" where the Mayberry jail gets two
convicts for a stay and Gomer is made a deputy. I think this may be just
about my favorite episode, but it is too hard to say. Thanks. God
bless---Jessi Vest from Floyd, VA

I saw a funny picture on strangecosmos.com. It is of Barney next to the patrol
car with.....Saddam Hussein in the back seat! You can see Floyd cutting Andy's
hair in the background. If you want to see it on the website go to "search" and
it is under the title "caught and let go".

Boy, you're right about that. If you don't know Al Becker, Al Becker
stories just aren't funny. Now Nate Bracey is another matter. You remember
he showed up at the reunion and he was a hoot. Just saying his name makes
me giggle - Nate Bracey, Nate Bracey, Nate Bracey!

Hey, maybe Barney "invested" in too many of those nickles with the Buffalo
pointing the wrong way.

How does the dog appear? Is she identified as Lassie or some parody name?
Sounds like only a guess that she was the same dog making a "guest appearance,"
in which case I have to question whether this is Lassie.

I just put it all together! Otis fell in a well and Lassie guest starred on
TAGS, coincidence? I think not.

In an early episode of TAGS, this paricular episode
having been lost shortly after editing, Barney has a
restless night. He is visited by the ghosts of three
waitresses--one from his past, one from the present
and one from the future. The third one scares him so
badly that he wakes up and pulls his stored money from
under the bed and out of his underwear drawer. He
goes directly to the diner--without passing go or
collecting an additional $200--and leaves all of the
money as a tip. For the rest of his life he honors
the spirit of tipping in his heart--if not always on
the table. :-)

I was surprised to see an a column entitled " Holy Mayberry" in Monday's Salem
newspaper the Statesman-Journal.
The writer said he found it a little weird that so many people belonged to a
club devoted to the ruruns of TAGS, & searched the Internet for answers. I
responded that he needs to watch the show for his answers, & described some of
reasons the show is watched by so many.
I did learn in the article however, that there is a chapter called the Kit Kat
Club in Salem, so if there are any Kit Kat people reading this, I might be
interested in joining.

I rec'd one of these myself. Thank God I have a Mac & if it is a virus
it won't affect me. Hope nobody else was affected.
Also Barney & Money maybe his mama was a widow & he was helping her w/
expenses? Or maybe he spent all of his money on Juanita? Perhaps Thelma
Lou inherited her house? Or maybe Barney had a giant nest egg just
sittin' in the bank. We all know how Barney was always looking out for
bank robbers. Maybe it was more than law enforcement that kept him so
protective of the Mayberry bank.

I agree with Jennifer, walking around that light in Barney's room is
hilarious. To me, its those little things that make the show so funny and so
timeless, All the detail! Its good to know that I am not the only one who
gets into those small details.

I saw something on TV over the weekend that I wondered if anyone has ever
seen. I was flipping though the channels because TAGS wasn't on. I came
across the show "King of Queens." I don't remember what the show was about
but the wife of the show was upset with her husband. In an attempt to cheer
her up, he pulled up his shirt and pretended his navel was whistling the
TAGS theme. Although I was a little weird it was kind of funny. I just love
any reference to TAGS!

On another note.... in the TAGS episode Up in Barney's Room I get a kick
out the way Andy and Barney keep walking around that hanging light. What a
hoot!!!

Subject: Barney's pay

I don't know how much Barney made as a deputy in Mayberry, but I think that in
one of the color episodes when he returns to Mayberry to visit, he says his pay
as a detective in Raleigh is $95.00 per week. From the way Andy reacts to
this, it appears that $95.00 per week was a good sized raise from what Barney
had been making as a deputy in Mayberry, So I agree that he must have been
underpaid because $95.00 per week in 1965 money would be about $530.00 in 2002
money, which would put the 2002 equivalent of his annual detective salary at
around $27,500.00 assuming that the $95.00 per week was gross pay. That seems
low to me for the kind of work he was doing. And his deputy salary would have
been even lower.
