Emmett did have a little dream sequence depicting his vision of fame. Now most
of us would have not chosen Lassie as our "star" in our dreams.
The dog that was in Emmett's vision of grandeur did obviously represent
Lassie, so whether or not it was a stunt dog or a look alike is irrelevant.
Let's go with the flow here and let Emmett have his dream, and give credit to
Bob for being a superb "noticer".

Don't have the picture in front of me, but I coulda' sworn I saw the back of a
little cowboy hat in one of the shop windows. Maybe Leon was waitin' for a
haircut. Anybody else see it?

I don't think I've picked up on the continuity of Olive's tip at the diner.
In one episode, Barn and Andy return to the court house and are talking
about lunch. The conversation discloses that both had left a 25c tip.
Barney offered to go back over, put his hat over one of the quarters and
recover it. But generosity wins the day and the decision was made to let
Olive keep both quarters.

Then when Ernest T. keeps escaping from the jail, we actually get to see
Olive when Barney comes in and orders a breakfast big enough for about 4
grown people. In the early part of the scene, Olive makes mention that the
boys had left 2 quarters and Barney clarifies that they were both for her.

I don't know if the same writers wrote those 2 episodes or even how close
together they were shown or maybe the cast/director added the bit when they
were shooting. But that's the first time I ever caught that the quarter tip
bit carried through 2 episodes.

Hi all,

I just remembered to tell you all this. It's kinda funny, I work for a
bank in NC and just yesterday I helped Otis Campbell with his
transaction, YES, his real name is Otis Campbell. Of course I just had
to say something to him. I asked him if he ever got teased, he said,
laughing of course, "All my life". I told him I thought it was great
that he had that name, and he should enjoy it.

Hope you all enjoy my Mayberry moment.

God Bless

Michael

Floyd once said about Foley, "he's a nice man - but cheap" I hope I don't
break any rules by saying that I think Barney might be the same way. Remember
Thelma Lou getting mad because he was always saying, "the best things in life
are free".

On Wednesday mornings I attend a Bible class at church. (My schedule at
work allows me to do this.)
We are studying the book of Genesis.
Joseph has been sold into slavery by his brothers and he is the second most
powerful man in Egypt. This is the part we are studying now.
I am also reading Joey Fann's book, "The Way Back to Mayberry". Joey has
story in the book about the "Man in a Hurry" episode.
I read the story at Bible class yesterday and everyone liked the story and
the reference about Joseph.
I told the class that I am a big fan of TAGS.

You just never know when you can make a reference about TAGS, especially in
Bible class.
My sister gave me the book by Mr. Fann for Christmas. She is a huge TAGS
fan too.

Thanks for the answers about Lassie.

I had a Mayberry moment today! I was in our local Christian Book Store and
saw a dvd for kids called Flo the Lyin' Fly. It was a cartoon about honesty
and how Flo learns to tell the truth. Anyway, I looked at the back of it
and guess who is one of the voices - Don Knotts!! I don't know who his
character was, but I bet he did a great job at it. Vicki Lawrence was also
one of the voices. Has anyone else seen this dvd?

I was watching "A Medal For Opie" last night and in the opening scene Barney is
talking about asking for a raise. He said he took Juanita out to a Chinese
restaurant and spent $2.75 on the family meal for one. Now if he pays $6
(later reduced to 5) a week for rent and spends nearly half a week's rent on a
date with Juanita, it's easy to see why he's broke. Maybe someone with one of
those bank machines could figure out the percentage of income that would be.
And I'm sure Barney dated more than once a week. One time he had to slip a
gypsy violinist a quarter. Giraffes may be selfish but gypsies sure are moody.
I also wonder if he chipped in on the ingredients for the cashew fudge he and
Thelma Lou shared once a week.
One another subject, what's that chain type thing hanging down on the inside of
the courtroom door?
Carol
