The best and most beautiful things in the
world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart. Helen Keller said this.......and Mayberry
personifies it for us. May God bless all you sweet folks whose hearts
dwell in Mayberry. I hope your house is next to mine. ;-)

I'm a cop so being a trained observer just come natural. The other day
while driving I saw a homemade sign on the roadside. It said "No Hunt". I
kept looking for the rest of the ". . . beware, open and close, no credit"
sentance but I guess he ran out of cardboard. There seemed to be a good
many local rocks piled up near the sign too. Makes you think!

Someone mentioned that Andy's daughter Dixie may now be living in Kansas or
Colorado. If she's in Kansas maybe moved there because of Helen's family's
reputation. After all, as Andy once said (paraphrasing): "Helen comes from
Kansas and I think you'll find that in Kansas the name 'Crump' carries a lot
of weight."

Keith in Nebraska (not that far from the Kansas Crumps)

Helen: The name is CRUMP...C-R-U-M-P!

My son's Middle School band had an after school practice. I asked him how
the practice went and he said

"We made the Mayberry Band sound good!"

Needless to say, he is a big fan of TAGS. :-)

I'd like to learn how to make a jug sound like other instruments: guitar,
banjo, bass and any other sounds that can come out of it. However based on
what Mr. Darling said, I'm not sure if it was he that coaxed the sounds from
the jug or the jug itself that had the ability.

>My question: How did Ramona come to be at such a swank affair as Mrs.
>Wiley's party?

I figure Mrs. Wiley invited all the single folks in Mayberry to her
gathering for them to meet one another and mingle. Remember she was very
adament about eveyone dancing and made sure all were participating, and
wanting to "get to know" Andy's cousin. Romeena was "right there in it" when
the rock was turned over to the sheriff's office so she already had made her
acquiantance with Mrs. Wiley. She probably even helped with the decorating.

If anyone is offended at the comment about flying a quail through the room,
remember it is all in fun. The way Barney delivers that line is a hoot!!!!!!
In another episode Andy explains to Opie about what a grown woman would do
on a Saturday. I ain't NEVER done any of that but I wasn't insulted, it IS
funny. And on another show Andy and Barney are making fun of the women
gossipers and Aunt Bee says "According to you there are only two kinds of
people, men and blabbermouths." Andy says "Well put, Aunt Bee. Well put."
Hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sexist comments said on the show are so mild they are too laughable to
consider an insult. Mayberry characters were very sensitive - even when
Aunt Bee and her friends went to Mexico the men felt obliged to show their
appreciation for the souviners, figuring, rightly so, that if they appeased
the ladies for a while they could taper off. Now, that's sensitivity!!!!!!
One thing I laugh out louad at and actually look forward to seeing is when
Barney dresses like an old frop. Preening his hair and adjusting his bust
with his arms reminds me of an aunt I had and I just crack up every
time!!!!!!!!! When the men go bananas over the sexy manicurist, it is so
like men that you can't help but laugh at their egos......And Earle Hagen's
musical beat to her walking steps is right on!!!!!!!!

Hey, I know we've talked about this before, but I need to know more
about that painting that hangs over the dining room table at the
Taylor's. I believe it was called the Angulus. Can anyone tell me
more, who is the artist and, especially, where on the web can I
print a pretty good copy?

Thanks, Jason Donner

From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Please forgive me in that I received so many personal e-mails on the loss
of my beloved that it is very hard to try to respond to all of them. I
am so very grateful for the messages of love and encouragement; knowing
that my Mayberry friends share my grief is very comforting to me. You
will never know how much they have helped me at this time of great sorrow
for myself, although joy for my wonderful sweetheart. Thank you from the
bottom of my heart forever. I hope I can thank each and every one of you
in person one day.
Sincerely, Aunt Bee of Orlando

Subject: First week at CCA
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Good Evening Mayberry;

Well, I did not think I would ever see the end of my first week back at
school after 34 years but, it was here and now it is gone.

I have to arise at 3AM in order to depart my home before 5AM and in time to
back my first class at 7AM. My son and I live 75 miles from CCA or as it is
well known to most non-students, the California Culinary Academy in San
Francisco. Soon we hope to move to a area where we drive only 20min. to arrive
at CCA.

The first day was orientation only, the second day was Safety & Sanitation
in the kitchen from 7-10AM where we learned about foodbourne diseases and how
proper transportation, storage, preparation and serving can prevent diseases.
Lunch from 10-11.
From 11AM-2PM we leaned about the different kitchen tools and knives. We spent
allot of time with Carrot Julienne, Carrot Brunoise, Potato Batonnet, Small
Potato Diced, Onion Brunoise, Cabbage Chiffonade, Parsley, Onion and Garlic
Minced, Tomato Concasse and Potato Tourne where you turn a potato while parring
until it looks like a football. Today we had a trial test on all the above and
where I only received a just passing grade, my son received an 81. Boy am I
proud of him! Since I am not artistic I am glad I took up
Hospitality-Restaurant Management and not Culinary Arts. We ended the week off
by baking chicken to eat at the academy or take home, my son and I baked sage
chicken and took ours home for the family.

Until the next time, have a wonderful week-end.
