Hi all,
Actually Omally's first name was Charles, remember, in the words of Floyd
" you should'nt call a rich man by his first name." Barn: "The bigger
they are, the nicer they are,...hey Chuck!"
Not sure what Fletch's last name was, however it is the same actor. He
also wanted Jimmy arrested in "The Great Filling Station Robbery" as
another character yet. And in "The Inspector" he played inspector
Case's boss at the end of the episode.
Just thought I would throw my education in everyones face, more like the
lack there of.
God Bless
Michael

That's actor Willis Bouchey (1907 - 1977). In addition to those episodes,
he also played Mr. Carter, Jimmy's former boss in "The Great Filling Station
Robbery" and Mr. Brady of the state police in "The Inspector." Outside of
Mayberry, he had an extensive career in John Ford westerns and Jimmy Stewart
movies, including "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance."

Some thoughts regarding the episode "Family Visit" which was on TVLAND
Wednesday night. I always thought that Aunt Bee and Andy could have made
better
sleeping arrangements. Why didn't they just put Ollie and Nora in Opie's room
and let the boys sleep in Opie's tent? Sure would have saved a lot of trouble.
I always get a good laugh watching Ollie load up the car to head home to turn
off the gas and unplug the radio, when all Nora would have had to do was call
a neighbor and have them check. Andy also must have left the keys in the
squad car because when Ollie left the courthouse he just took the squad car out
to
the trout pond. But then again, if folks in Mayberry did things the logical
way, we wouldn't have all their very antics to talk about.

I remember Barney calling out Charlie and Chuck toward O'Malley's cabin when
the convicts were inside. Floyd got on to him for calling a rich man by his
first name, but of course Barney knew that the "bigger they are, the nicer they
are". Maybe Fletch is a nickname, or O'Malley's twin?

We've got two black and white English Springer Spaniels. The elder, Miss
Ellie is at the vet right now with stomach ailments, and we hope
everything is alright with her. Her crazy partner, named Otis, is aptly
named. I haven't found his supplier yet, but I think he is doing some
just plain guzzlin, based on his behavior. Otis is 2 and Miss Ellie is 4
yrs old.

Too Much Andy Griffith? You deserve a Citizen's Arrest for even
suggesting such a thing. I believe in Count Istvan Tellecky and Extra
Sensitive Perception - those things exist. But too much Andy Griffith
watching - absolutely not.

Hey Anthony and others!!
The Baldwin sisters did live on Waltons Mtn. Someone was mentioning that one
of the Baldwin ladies recently passed away at 96 years old and the other one,
who is Mary Jackson is still with us at 93. I was making a joke referring to
the Baldwin's and their recipe. I was wondering what they had in it to make
them live so long? I thought Charlie Varney our resident guzzler would know
the answer to that.
Have a Great Mayberry Day!

Dan I loved your last post about Myra Koonze at the Grand. I always look
around for old Barn when I watch them changing the marquee at our local
theatre, but he's never out there watching. Maybe he's at the drugstore having
a lemon phosphate or maybe.... maybe........it was Barn you saw there in the
back row with Myra Koonze???
Alice I sure wish I could have been there with you at Wal Mart to see the look
on that police officers face when you started hollering Citizen's Arrest...
Citizen's Arrest! I bet it was priceless. Isn't it great how these Mayberry
Moments brighten our days. It just makes my day when something I see or hear
reminds me of the show, it just makes me feel at home in Mayberry in my heart.
I can't remember which episode this was in but in a recent TAGS I watched Andy
and Barney were walking down the street and in the background I saw a sign that
read: F. Wakefield Beauty Salon. Has anybody else seen this? I wonder if the
Carter family also had a Beauty Salon in times past and that is what started
the feud???

Regarding the episode with Barney and Gomer looking for Opey, the
gentleman that played "Fletch", played the role of Charles O'Malley in
the escaped convicts episode. If you remember correctly, when Barney and
Floyd stood outside the cabin, Barney yelled out 'Hey Chuck"!

"Maybe his name is Fletch O'Malley. That actor also played a judge in
several b&w Perry Mason episodes. What was his name? I'm sure he's dead by
now. Was he in anymore TAGS episodes than those 2?"
Charlie,
You don't mind if I call you Chuck, do you? You know, the bigger they are
the nicer they are. Anyway, O'Malley was played by Willis Bouchey, who
passed away in August of '77 at the age of 70. His TAGS appearances were
many and varied:
Episode 26, The Inspector, as Inspector Brady
Episode 74, Convicts at Large, as Charlie O'Malley
Episode 85, The Great Filling Station Robbery, as Mr. Carter
Episode 127, Back to Nature, as Fletcher Roberts
Episode 39 (Mayberry RFD) Goober the Housekeeper, as Fremont
Episode 117 (Mayberry RFD) Driver Education, as Mr. Adams
Episode 124 (Mayberry RFD) Captain Greer, Call Surgery, as Dr. Samuels
Episode 125 (Mayberry RFD) The Church, as The Reverend Mr. Bickford
If you bear with me as I volunteer some trivial trivialities, here are some
of his additional, or should I say potential, TAGS-linked roles:
He played a judge in The Love God, with Don Knotts...
He played a councilman in Support Your Local Sheriff...I guess he had good
training from TAGS
He played a policeman in Incident in an Alley...He could have given a thug
the Izamoto treatment
He played a policeman in No Name on the Bullet...Another role attributed to
'ol Barn
He played Mr. Clinton in Forever Darling...I'm sure he was a Darlin person
He played Mr. Lambert in Big House, USA...I know Maude was proud
Chris in Chattanooga, who is ready to Welcome Sweet Springtime and Great
Thee in Sooooong!
