>>>I have been able to buy a couple cd's of the Andy Griffith show but like
everyone here it would be fantastic to get all the shows on cd. Anyone know
if that's possible.<<<
Don't mean to be smart-alec, but as soon as the Griffith show is put on DVD
other that that half season that is public domain, (that about 15 different
suppliers are selling those 16 episodes) I'm sure this Digest will be one
of the first places you hear it. It's always been on the wish list here,
since that electronal marvel (DVD player) was invented.
Lots or issues..search our Archives for more words of explanation.
Is it possible? Yes, but its gonna take a Lucky Letter, 3 wishes, or a
lightning struck penny, or something to make it happen.

Greetings from snowy Ohio! Had a quick question on Mayberry RFD. Are there any
of those episodes out on dvd anywhere? How about Gomer Pyle, USMC? I know there
are plans for what seems like hundreds of things to be released soon, but had
not heard of these two yet. I also wanted to make a plug for family-friendly
programming called "Skyangel". I had my Dishnetwork receiver sitting idle for
two plus years before I ordered this quality, affordable Christian programming.
Many clean, old shows like TAGS, Make Room For Daddy, etc are on as well. Best
of all, once your equipment is purchased, you DO NOT have to get any additional
programming from Dish unless you choose to. Just a little FYI.
Happy Motoring!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all the Irishers out there!
Strange that Ernest T. Bass was the only person of Irish descent in
Mayberry.
The irony here is that Bass appears to be an Englisher name but then lots of
English came to Ireland. :-)
And remember, there are only three leaves on a shamrock, not four!

What's most noticeable is that Barney has to drive on the wrong side of the
road to park the way he does - and even more importantly - where he parks is
right where the fire hyrdrant usually appears.

I think the confusion over not remembering the episode where gomer
returns to mayberry is because it is an episode of GOMER PYLE USMC.
The original message writer mentioned that, as I recall, and it
brings up an important point actually. GOMER PYLE USMC and
MAYBERRY RFD are an important part of the whole Mayberry
chronology. Both were Andy Griffith's work and, I think, are worth
including into the TAGS universe. And both are pretty hilarious
too on their own.

"Gomer Goes Home" was a season 4 episode of GOMER PYLE USMC.
Gomer goes back to Mayberry on furlough, hoping to surprise everyone... but
finds the Taylors, and Goober, are away for a week on a camping trip. Gomer
decides to spend his furlough working at the filling station, and gets involved
with a couple of thieves who rob it.
The epilog has Gomer heading back to Camp Henderson on the bus. As the bus
pulls out, he looks out the rear window and sees Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee & Goober
pull up in front of the courthouse (Andy, Ron, Frances & George in a cameo
appearance). There's also an early scene of Gomer reminiscing in the
courthouse (with stock footage from the pilot episode "Gomer Pyle USMC"), and
finding a picture of Barney... the cue for Barney's "Manhunt" theme to play...
a nice moment.
Another interesting moment has Gomer talking to Old Man Ferguson (Burt Mustin),
and asking why Emmett's Fix-It Shop is in Floyd's old storefront. While TAGS
only mentioned that Floyd retired, in this episode we're told that Floyd now
lives in Mt. Pilot with his recently divorced daughter.

I remember a little about an episode where Gomer goes to visit Mayberry. I
don't have a bucket to think under, but if I'm correct in it Gomer foils a
robbery by pretending the car he is driving is out of control. Is this the
same show?
I had a Mayberry moment the other day. I was driving in Garland, TX and passed
a street called Lawson, then a couple of streets down was Warren. Next time I
get a chance I'm going to drive through the neighborhood and find out is anyone
else is represented there.

This was an actual "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." episode, and Gomer returned to town
only to find Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee and Goober gone on a fishing trip. He spends
the rest of the episode working at Wally's Filling Station, which is robbed on
his watch, but he helps a visiting lawman from out of town (filling in for
Andy) catch the bad guys. *Then* the bus pulls away just as a Dodge station
pulls up and Andy, Opie, Aunt Bee and Goober all get out (Goober and Opie
stretch, as they would after a long car trip). It ends with the bus pulling
away as Gomer frantically beats on the window and yells out to the four.
Of course, the four appeared in other "Gomer" episodes as well, different shows
in which they actually had speaking parts.

I believe Aunt Bee of Orlando was referring to an episode of Gomer Pyle, USMC,
not TAGS.

Hey All,
Came home today from work and my son had the VCR
going with the episode of The Mayberry Security bank.
When Barneys doing his security check and disguises
himself as Mrs. McGruder's cousin he seems to be
singing an Isish song as he's cleaning up. I told my
son that was good ep. for St. Paddy's day!

I have a question? Was Wally's front yard the same as Mrs. Wiley's? Last
night, I was watching when Mr. Tucker was trying to get Wally to get out of his
rocker and fix his car. At the end of the seen, I saw a stump in the front
yard that looked just like the one that Eanest T and Romeeena leap frogged over
whilst giggling.
