Yeah, considering I saw TAGS originally broadcast when I was a teen, it is
no wonder the cast and crew on stage the other night have white in their
hair. Heck, I bet ol' Ernest T. can't even leapfrog that stump in Mrs.
Wiley's yard! But then, neither can it.

OK, OK, I messed up. We had a Church supper Wednesday night, and I had to cook
(Methodist men)200+ pancakes, and I forgot to set up my vcr to tape the show.
I have helped other folks before in this situation. So please, will someone
give me a tape for your costs ? I hope we're not illegal. Thanks, Lonnie

episodes... maybe coming out of a store holding a package or something.
Could someone remind me which episode that was?
That's in "The Farmer Takes a Wife." It was confirmed a few years ago by
one of the Beasleys (Andy Griffith's cousins).

>And remember, there are only three leaves on a shamrock, not four!
Right, if it's got four leaves then it's a clover........ ;) Irritating,
ain't I?
>GOMER PYLE USMC and MAYBERRY RFD are an important part of the whole
>Mayberry
>chronology. Both were Andy Griffith's work
In the interview with Sheldon Leonard during the Andy Griffith bio he
mentions that using Make Room For Daddy to introduce the character of
Sheriff Andy Taylor he actually created the first spin off. With TAGS, Gomer
Pyle USMC, and Mayberry RFD, I think the only other show that created as
many spin offs would have to be All In The Family with Maude, Jeffersons,
and Archie's Place. Since I haven't watched prime time anything since around
1990 I wouldn't know about spin offs from recent and current shows.
Considering that TAGS lasted 8 years I doubt any other spin has lasted as
long or is as beloved. Any data on that figure?
Harriet, wondering if I can spin off turkey from chicken....

I just thought the TVland TAGS reunion was wonderful.
My Andy looked fine and was so hale, hearty.and happy!!
Now wasn't in the mulberry squeezins' but wasn't that Mr.
Schwump standing behind Charlene for a second. You know he just blends
in.
Well I'm going to put on my Leonard Blush CD.
Just a fine show.

You sure it's 3000 miles?....In the episode that Gomer announces to Andy

to go somewhere and he'd pass right by the base. Hmmm.............

Well I didn't get to watch, the awards show live, but I enjoyed watching the
tape. Even after reading all your posts, I still got misty myself. Just a
couple quick observations...and then I'm gonna watch it again.
It was great to see our dear friend Harvey Bullock up there. You looked
great Harvey! Its was great to see you so honored!! Thanks for reminding
us when the show was going to air!!
George Lindsey and others didn't get as much press as others, but still
showed a lot of class!
What a memorable presentation!

>>>Strange that Ernest T. Bass was the only person of Irish descent in
Mayberry.
I certainly wrote that without a bucket on my head.
I never thought of Mr. O'Malley since I'm so used to calling him "Chuck."
Mr. McBeeVee was Irish both in name and accent, Peggy McMillan, Mrs.
McGruder, and Old Man McCabe (they have a pub in Florida). Old Man Joe
MacKnight is definitely Scots, but his folks could be from Ulster (might as
well let Otis Campbell in too since there are Campbells in Ireland.). And
Ernest T. Bass and his cousin. And let's not forget Old Man Kelsey and
Earle Gilley, both names found in Ireland.
Looks like we are getting up enough people for next year's St. Patrick's Day
Mayberry Parade. Now if we can only get the band to learn "When Irish Eyes
Are Smiling." I suspect it will sound more like "Stars and Stripes
Forever."
Any more?
Gomer, who might be Irish, says "Hey!"

I was so proud for our TAGS cast. That was BIG......................REAL
BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And I agree,that they all looked FABULOUS!!!!! I'd waited
impatiently for this program and it was well worth the wait.TAGS people really
are legendary and it was great to hear the praises from others besides our own
liitle biased group here.We know our precious actors are special, but like
parents who hear praises for their children,it still makes a body proud.God
bless each of them for the joy that they continue to bring to us!

I missed seeing the awards last night, or whenever they were. I was at the
hospital again with my wife, and today I brought her home! The doctor said he
had never seen anyone with leukemia recover so quickly! I will take that over
TVland any time!! But, it sure would have been nice to see the show!!
Now, just hope she is well enough for Mayberry Days in September!!

I believe that was in the episode "The Farmer Takes a Wife" when Andy takes
Jeff Pruitt to buy a suit. Andy's dad is seen coming out of the men's clothing
store.

First of all, if you missed the TVLand awards show, but have that channel,
it is going to be rebroadcast on Saturday night, so don't miss it again.
For those who saw it, who was the young lady with dark hair standing behind
Ellinor Donahue and Betty Lynn on stage??
Was she just an award carrier or escort?? Didn't get that good of look at
her, but she walked out with them and then stood behind the other ladies,
near Maggie Peterson Mancuso.
Who was this mystery lady? (perhaps a family member of a cast member, like
Rance Howard represented Ron??)
Then Untrained Voice (and untrained noticer)
