Saw Mr. Scobey (apparently wasn't working for Ben Weaver any longer) and
Fred Boone (without his wife) sharing a scene on Green Acres last night.
Fred Boone was of course played by that fine comic actor Jesse White and
this rather lengthy scene produced some funny stuff.

(There, I've said it in public...............I watch Green Acres.)

Just a thought; TAGS to me is humorous, sometimes belly laugh making. I get
more from TAGS though, like parenting instruction. Andy played a BIG role in
my sucessful rearing of my two Opies (Opie-1; age 23 & Opie-2; age 19).

I attend church because of TAGS positive influence. I'm gentle to animals,
especially birds, not to mention them giraffes. Also, I would never want the
dogs to get hit by lightning!

The list goes on!

Hey folks,

Just letting you know that there was a software glitch on Monday so no WBMUTBB
Digest
was sent out. You DID NOT miss an issue so don't worry. Sorry for you not
getting your
dose of Mayberry on Monday but "everything's okay in Mayberry."

Yesterday morning I purchased one of the various DVD incarnations of 'The
Andy Griffith Show' on DVD at my local WAL-MART. This one is distributed by
Raintree Home Video. For $5.50, I couldn't resist. This DVD has the 16 public
domain episodes plus a Popeye cartoon, a Betty Boop cartoon, a Three Stooges
cartoon, a Mighty Mouse cartoon, a Casper the Friendly Ghost cartoon, a few
Bing
Crosby Ducks Unlimited commercials plus a few commercials of Andy selling Post
Cereals. Sadly, though, they didn't refer to an episode listing of TAGS when
they compiled this DVD. They took liberty to naming the TAGS episodes
themselves.
For example, some of the titles they created are 'Andy Meets Miss Crump',
'Gomer Saves the Day', Bicycle Brat', and 'Opie's Spring Fling.' I'll stop
right
there. The music they substituted for 'The Fishin' Hole' theme sounds like
dinner music. This is all the more reason to campaign for a proper rendering of
TAGS on DVD season by season.

I've been reading the "somewhere's else" quote quite a bit lately. Could
someone give the whole quote and the context? Thanks ever so much.

Hi to all, I just had to share this with you all. Only a true Mayberry
friend would find this to be a wonderful story. As some of now I have had
to have numerous shoulder surgeries. I just had my 5th. surgery on March
5th. So, to my surprise yesterday our mail man came to our door with a
package. Our dear and wonderful friends Pat & Neil Coleman from Ohio sent
me a "Mr. Potato Head Set" to give me something to do while I recover.
What a treat that was to receive. Only a true Mayberrrian would appreciate
a gift like that. And too, pass it around we have a new member to the
Mayberry family. Pat & Neil Coleman have a new grandson. He was born in
February to their daughter Julie and her husband Ty. Love to all.

Gomer decides to join the Marines in Episode 107 (the 127th aired on May 19,
1964). It was the last episode of the 1963-1964 season. In the episode, Andy
decides to take Gomer to Boot Camp because Andy has business "in Wilmington"
(presumably N.C.), and the Marine base is "right on the way." I don't think
the name of the Marine base is ever mentioned in the episode, but Camp Lejeune
is the largest Marine base in N.C. (maybe the world) and it is about 80-90
miles northeast of Wilmington in Jacksonville, N.C. Not exactly straight on
the way between Mayberry and Wilmington, but near enough. It would however
have been a long day trip from Mayberry in the northwest part of N.C. to
Jacksonville near Wilmington on the southeast coast. Maybe the length of the
trip, along with that "leaky valve," was why they showed up late.

Incidentally, this is the episode where Gomer does his famous "bucket
thankin"......."Go ahead, take a thank under there!"
