""Saw Mr. Scobey (apparently wasn't working for Ben Weaver any longer)
and Fred Boone (without his wife) sharing a scene on Green Acres last
night. Fred Boone was of course played by that fine comic actor Jesse White
and this rather lengthy scene produced some funny stuff.""
Wasn't that also was the ep where Oliver (Awl-e-vah) Douglas wants to plant his
160 acres of wheat, and he's having troble with the Dept. of Agriculture in DC?
A couple of Ag agents in DC say this farmer in Hooterville....then they say
the name Hooterville sounds like something out of an episode of "Gomer Pyle",
making a reference to the tv show. I think Petticoat Junction had ties to Bev.
Hillbillies and Green Acres. Were all these shows on CBS?

On a recent digest the episode with Andy's father was mentioned. I believe it
was the episode that the farmer takes a wife. I must not have my bucket on
because I can't place it in my mind.
Would someone give me more information on this episode.
Thanks.

A number of Mayberry residents had different last names in the early
episodes. Goober was Goober Beasley, Floyd Lawson was Floyd Colby, Clara
Edwards was
Clara Johnson and even Milly Swanson had a different name when she first came
to Mayberry, but I can't remember what it was just now. I think it was
Hutchkins or something like that. Can anyone help me????

That quote is from Barney and his take on Malcom Merriweather. He told
Andy "he's not from around here." And to be more specific he said "He's
from somewhere's else."
Edmondwyke (sp?) England to be more precise, as Andy added.
But actually, from somewhere's somewhere's else.

Anyone not familiar with www.jumpingtheshark.com/ might want to vvisit. The
site deals with the moment when a good show turns bad--or at least not as
good. The name comes from the HAPPY DAYS episode when the show goes to Hawaii
and Fonzie--guess what?--jumps a shark. I've checked out several shows there
but only today suddenly wondered how TAGS fared. There are tons of
comments--I didn't read them all. Some are good; some are not. I'd
personally like to see TAGS in the "never jumped" hall of fame, but it's not.
I've never voted, just visited the site, but I'm going back there now to do
so. (The biggest jumping moments are Barney leaving and the show "going"
color.)

This will probably end up getting "published" too late to do much good, but
the TVLand Awards show will be on tonight, and will include the half-hour show
beforehand of the backstage going's-on. Starts 9:00 p.m. CST.

Allan,
Thanks for letting us know about the glitch that resulted in no digest on
Monday. When I read your note to the digest, I thought.. Arn't ya kind...arn't
ya kind, then when you wrote "Everything is okay in Mayberry", I just cracked
up. I had a mental image of Floyd standing there in the courthouse while Andy
and Barney took off after the pickpocket. You made my day sir and I sure do
appreciate it!

The Taylors had the Blue Willow pattern on their dishes, and I was browsing
through a catalog, and found a set of Blue Willow mugs. The text said, "The
Blue Willow design tells the Chinese legend of an angry father pursuing his
eloping daughter, only to see the couple transformed into birds that fly away
together." I never knew that, so I thought I'd pass that on. By the way, if
you're ever in the mood for just about ANYTHING with the Blue Willow pattern
on it, go to www.bluewillowchina.com and you'll find it.

Hey Danny and all,
Maybe Andy & Barney had a "leaky valve" when they had
to go to the Darling's to take care of Ernest T in the
Mountain Wedding episode. They got up awful early that
morning and didn't get there till about the middle of
the day. Maybe they tried to cross the Robert E Lee
natural bridge with the squad car... Course they might
of burnt out there valves.

between Mayberry and
Wilmington, but near enough. It would however have
been a long day
trip from Mayberry in the northwest part of N.C. to
Jacksonville near
Wilmington on the southeast coast. Maybe the length
of the trip, along
with that "leaky valve," was why they showed up late.

Hey Ted while your out there on your motorsicle how
bout steppin up your patrols along Dexter street. You
know with spring and warmer weather coming we can't
have anybody selling vegetables out the back of their
truck. If they give you any trouble just clear your
throat, tug at your collar, and tap your
holster...They'll run like chickin's in the storm.
PS
Take it easy...don't burn out your valves

Hello all
I have great in-laws, who got me 2 of the walmart TAGS
DVDs for Christmas. Yesterday, I was wacthing the one
about Andy and Barn's class reunion. This was pretty
amusing, as I had never thought about this before--but
I got to laughing about how they were having so much
trouble remembering names and faces of their
classmates (they said there were 35 of them). Now, I
didn't grow up in a town nearly as big as Mayberry,
only had 18 in my graduating class, and being even
more small townish than Andy and Barn, I could
remember and recognize all my classmates. Also, the
town was much too small to have a sheriff or deputy!
