So, I haven't been able to read the digest in the past few weeks, and I
should probably know this, but are Ron and Clint Howard brothers? Clint
that played Leon? Just wondering. Thanks y'all! God bless! Jessi

In real life, none of the big three female cast members ever married - Frances
Bavier, Aneta Corsaut, or Betty Lynn. I find it strange since they were all
attractive ladies in every sense. I hope Betty Lynn writes a book someday.
I'm sure she could share a lot of the inside information with the rest of us.
I'm from NC and I do love TAGS. No matter how often I see an episode, I am
happy to watch it again!

Roger - you will enjoy the trip to Franklin Canyon/Myers Lake. I suggest you
spend some time looking around the park - it is a very peaceful setting. As you
walk and drive around the lake, you will recognize different scenes beyond the
opening credits:
- Where Mr. McBeevee drives off in his truck (the wrong way) with the wooden
rail on one side and concrete rail on the other.
- The house that was Justice of the Peace office in Stokes County where Andy &
Helen go to pay the fishing fine.
- The area of the lake where Warren sees his premonition and won't let Andy &
Helen go out in the boat (the dock is gone, but you see the dam on the show).
- The intersection (used twice with different camera setups) where Andy drives
as he "Returns to Mayberry" in the TV movie.
The education center in the park has some good information on other
shows/movies filmed there too. There are plenty of other spots around the lake
where it looks like they would have filmed picnics, catching escape convicts,
or coming back from fishing trips. Brush up on your TAGS before you go out and
see if you can spot any more and let us know what you see!

Hey Jessi
So you don't get 100 answers tomorrow, I'll answer you today.
Yes Ron and Clint Howard are brothers, and Rance is their father.
Their mother (her first name escapes me) died within the last few years.
She played a memorable role in Apollo 13 as Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks) mother.
Moe Howard and Curly Howard were Ron's great uncles.
The Untrained Voice
Sgt at Arms, Schwamp fan club and hair loss support group.
Emmett Clark treasurer, Newton Monroe Vice President, Don Knotts, newest
member
....I was just kidding about Moe and Curly
They are no kin to Ron, as far as I know, but the ladies from the historical
society are checking.

Subject: Still Schwamp obsessed!
Date: Mon, 5 Apr 2004 14:47:27 -0400
I was checking the archives, And I think I hold the dishonor of the most
posts about Schwamp--Is that a compelsion?
Anyway, thought I would rerun this one from about a year ago, for the new
members who are Schwamp-curious.
I just saw one of the Schwamp appearances. In episode #175, Otis the Artist,
he is in the audience of the art club while Aunt Bee and Warren are
lecturing. I saw him do something I never noticed before. He Murmured!
Leaned right over to the woman next to him and murmured. His lips definitely
moved.
So I called over a friend of mine who reads lips. I played the tape frame by
frame as he squinted, moved his own mouth in sync with Mr. Schwamp, and
wrote down what he was able to decode. I hope I'm not breaking any rules or
violating the Schwump mystique by revealing this but here is how the
conversation went, according to my friend.
Schwamp--Amenties, amenities
Woman--Nice pair o' speeches
Schwamp--Thanks, I got this "hair piece" in Mt Pilot.
Woman--You goof ball, I said nice "Pair of Speeches!" Who cares where you
got that rug.
Schwamp--No hunt, open and closed, no service, smile nod smile nod nod,
frown
I can't wait to see what he murmurs at Mrs. Wiley's or when he goes for
Root Beer at the dance with the Fun Girls!

1/2 hour interview with ron howard that was just great. he explained how and
why he started his career as a director. he also received extremely high
praise from the actors and other personnel that work for and with him. it's
super
to see "opie" make good. from way out west, lvroftags.

I don't know if anyone remembers but when they all went up on the stage Andy
introduced Mr. Howard to the auidence as Opie real dad Rance Howard. So I
guess that means he is still alive.
