Subject: TAGS DVD's!!!

I remember when the Columbia House video's came out, there was a lot of
grumbling because of the high cost. I warned everyone that if you don't buy
them, Columbia House won't issue the whole set. Even though the quality of
that set was unsurpassed, too many people felt that $25 (after shipping) was
too much to pay. Then when the set was discontinued before the whole set
was issued, the grumbling among the WBMUTBB members resurfaced. The same
thing will apply to the "complete season" DVD's. They won't be cheap. I've
purchased the MASH season 1, 2 and 3 DVD's and if memory serves me
correctly, they were about $50 a season. MASH only had 24 episodes a year
and TAGS had 36 a year. Quality wise, 8 episodes per DVD is about the
limit. Any more than that and the quality starts to suffer. I would not be
surprised if they are closer to $60 a set and if they don't sell well,
Paramount won't continue to issue additional years. If you want to have all
8 years issued (as I do), you've got to buy them. I would hate to be
reading a WBMUTBB message 18 months from now from someone wondering why
season one was issued and that was it. You're not going to be able to buy
them for $15 a season.

We should dedicate a Schwump Appreciation Day this month. We could celebrate
by having a rootbeer and smiling and nodding to everyone we see.

Oh, my stars! Like you said, Allan... THIS IS BIG!!!
I am beyond excited! Allan, please pass along any more information that comes
along! Oh, I can't wait!!!!!!!!
You know?... it's a funny thing. My mother-in-law bought the Andy board game
for me a few years ago, but I've never played it because....... well, because
NOBODY WILL PLAY IT WITH ME! Hmmm... could it be they're wise to the fact
that I may not have a whole lot of other stuff rattling around in my head...
but the one thing I DO know is ANDY TRIVIA!
I don't know it enough to enter one of the contests at Mayberry Days, plus I
would go completely blank... but, I have to think that I would do well with
the board game.
Oh, I am so excited about the DVDs!!! Okay... I have to call my husband at
work and tell him! I feel like I've just found out I'm pregnant or
something... well, without that whole nausea-big belly-swollen ankle thing
goin' on! Oh, wait... I've already got the big belly-swollen ankle
thing.......
Thanks SO much for fillin' us in on the news! Hopefully, we won't have to
wait a whole 9 months!
Everyone have a fantastic April! And, have a wonderful Easter!

I saw Mayor Stoner the other night playing a Congressmen on Gomer. He tried to
get Gomer promoted to a Corporal.
And then the next day I saw Jesse Pearson (aka Keevy Hazelton in the "A Singer
In Town" episode) playing Harley Hatfield (also a fictional singer) on McHales
Navy. I tried doing a search for Pearson on the IMDB but didn't find much
about him.
Was he a semi-famous singer of the sixties?

Saw another Episode of Gomer today and he was Singing "Look DownThat Lonesome
Road" song that Rafe sang with Andy in the Episode "Rafe Hollister Sings"
Coincidence? I think not.

Subject: The County
Date: Thu, 8 Apr 2004 07:43:40 -0400
When Warren is gushing over Barney, he says Barn is "probably the best known
deputy in the whole county." I guess I always figured Mayberry was the
county seat and Andy the county sheriff making Barney the only deputy in the
county. In one episode, Andy reminds Barney that they are county employees.
And some of their out-of-town adventures make it seem their authority was
county-like what with chasing Ernest T. up in the mountains and the various
moonshine escapade into the countryside.
But then, sometimes Mt. Pilot was only 12 miles away and could have also
been in the county. Andy seemed to work for the town mayor and not a county
official.
So it is all kinda puzzling.
