Subject: Calvin Coolidge Quotes

With the talk about Calvin Coolidge, I looked him up and compiled this list of
things Calvin Coolidge said. (I knew he must have said something, or he
wouldn't have gotten to be president!)Some of his quotes:

"The business of America is business."
"The nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten."
"Character is the only secure foundation of the state."
"There is no right to strike against the public safety by anybody, anywhere,
any time."
"There is no force so democratic as the force of an ideal."
"Perhaps one of the most important accomplishments of my administration has
been minding my own business."
"Civilization and profits go hand in hand."
"Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself
while looking out for your country."
"Borrowed money, even when owing to a nation by another nation, should be
repaid."
"Our doctrine of equality and liberty and humanity comes from our belief in the
brotherhood of man, through the fatherhood of God."
"No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for
what he gave."
"It is the duty of a citizen not only to observe the law but to let it be known
that he is opposed to its violation."
"Prosperity is only an instrument to be used, not a deity to be worshiped."
"It is only when men begin to worship that they begin to grow." AND

"Everybody complains about the weather but nobody does anything about it."
(Nah, just kidding - Twain said that.)

Hi all,

Thanks for the information on downloading Mayberry WAV files. It makes me smile
during the workday to hear "Golly" when I start my computer and "Surprise"
every time I get a new e-mail! The instructions were very clear to a
technologically challenged person such as myself.

Many thanks,

Hi Everyone,

Howard McNear played Doc in the radio version of Gunsmoke. William Conrad
played Matt Dillon. I believe Parley Baer played Chester.

Richard LeGrand is listed in some of the Andy Griffith Show credits as a
producer. Is this the same Richard LeGrand that played Mr. Peavey in
the radio show the Great Gildersleeve?

Have a great Mayberry Day everyone.

Silvia

"I have never been hurt by anything I didn't say."

I guess we have to assume he never forgot to say happy anniversary or happy
birthday to his wife. :)

Well, since that first post I made about using a TAGS WAV file (Gomer's
"Gol-l-l-y!") to announce my incoming e-mail, I have enjoyed reading how others
use TAGS WAV files on their computers. So after receiving some instructions
from Rod, I have added more sound files to "Mayberry customize" our computer.
When we turn the computer on, Barney announces that we are entering
"Mayberry...gateway to danger." I'm giving Gomer a rest, so now when I get new
mail, I hear Andy say, "Here, open up some of the mail. Maybe you wrote
yourself a letter!" And when I empty the recycle bin, Andy warns, "Oh, now you
have really done it!" As the computer is shutting down, Floyd calls out,
"Thank you...call again!" If anyone has additional uses for TAGS WAV files,
send them in. I believe I'm developing a compelsion for using all those great
sound bites in as many ways as I can!!
