Have you ever wondered why on earth in all the color versions were all the
rooms painted that same shade of green.
>>>

They aren't. In many episodes, the courthouse interior is tan, and in
others, it's blue.

>>>I recall Andy in more than 1 instance saying "You beat everything, you
know that?" ... But was this line solely Andy's? Or did Barn or anybody
else ever use it?

It's Andy's catch phrase all right, but Helen uses it once, when she gets
made at Andy. Seems like it might be in "The Darling Fortune," but I'm a
little rusty on those color episodes.

Subject: Aunt Bee learns to Drive

My wife and I were watching "Aunt Bee learns to Drive" and were wondering if
anybody else noticed this:

In the scene where Goober is trying to teach her to drive and she is running
over the sidewalk, etc....it looks like it might not be Aunt Bee driving the
car. The film speed is increased markedly, and you can't see it very well but I
think it may have been a stunt driver. Does anyone else think this? Noticed
this? Wondered about it? Does anyone else know if its true? Or just my
overactive imagination? Am I being obtuse?

Hey all,

Was watching "Opie's Unforgettable Character" today and noticed a moment
where Goober speaks with an inner voice, in other words we "hear" what
Goober is thinking. This is the first time I remember seeing this device
used in the show. Are there others?

I can not recall a B/W episode with this (unless you include examples from
the episode where Opie runs the 50 yard dash or the Pickle story) but I
don't "know" the color episodes like I do the B/W so I wonder if there is
any examples there.

Subject: Green
Well, I agree about the green. But the cards were printed in green cause
money is green and they used the same ink, don't you think? And a lot of
shows done in that era seem to have a green cast, or it appears so to me.
Isn't the courthouse color actually blue in later episodes? Or am I
imagining things?

In the episode where Gomer takes the tenor solo from Barney, Barney mentions
the name of Leonard Blush. Andy says that he's never heard of him. Was this
episode taped befor the one where Andy wanted to hear Leonard Blush sing on the
radio instead of listening to the bulletin about escaped criminals?

We are blessed with birds in our backyard too. We have three birdfeeders up
and the sound of the birds sure cheer me up. We have an occasional squirrel
that shinnies up the pole to eat and a bunny that eats the seed dropped onto
the ground. I can see why Aunt Bee cared so much about her songbirds, they are
really a treat.

I tuned in this morning just in time to hear Catie Couric making an apology to
the TAGS fans about an interview she had made mentioning something about
mispronouncing a name. This is all I heard. I checked out the MSNBC website
that gives the subjects on the show, but no mention of TAGS. Does anyone know
anything about this?

Or maybe he shot at the tube after episode 159. If he were alive today, he'd
probably shoot up the tv when TVLand skips over the best episodes. I've been
tempted to, but that wouldn't go over well with the missuz.

Ron,

Read your formula for remembering numbers. It was so complicated
that it hurt my head! I had to lay down with an ice pack and take 3
Tylenol....

Guess you can tell that I'm not a whiz with numbers <chuckle>...

Just to let everyone know that on ESPN Radio they have a poll question
each day in which people can vote by going to the ESPN Website. Today's
poll question (Thursday) was "Who is the all time greatest sidekick?"
The choices were Paul Schaeffer, Ed McMahan, Barney Rubble, Ed Norton
(Art Carney) and Barney Fife (Don Knotts). And........ Drum Roll
Please! Our own Bernard P. Milton Oliver Fife won. Isn't it great to
know that our favorite show is also loved by many other folks.

I just gave you an "A" in voting as well as breathing.

How did you vote Ange? I'll tell you if you'll tell me.

As for me, I'm voting to keep the cannon!!

O.K. I remember in an episode with the Darlings, Helen Crump was being courted
by Rodney (because of the owl omen) and she told Andy "you beat everything".
Poor Andy gets the stuffed owl from the lodge and produces the counter omen.

I think that the reason that all of the walls were painted green was that
green was one of the colors that looked neutral when filmed in B/W and they
probably never bothered to change the colors when they went to color episodes.
