Hey Ya'all.............

While watching "Green Acres" last evening....... there was a scene of
the Pixley Police going out
to the Douglas farm ........ Sure looked like it was a shot of the 63
Ford Squad car from The Andy Griffith Show driving along Myers
Lake...... I believe it was a clip from the drive up to the
Darlin's cabin when we first met the infamous "It's me it's me....
it's Earnest T" !!!!!!

Did anyone happen to catch "The Radio Factor With Bill O'Reilly" yesterday?
The show has these "bumpers" (bits, music, etc. played going into or coming
out of a commercial break). One of their favorite things to use as bumpers is
maybe either a movie scene or a politician's speech, in which the show's
announcer substitutes O'Reilly's name in the clip. So I was very surprised
yesterday when I heard Barney Fife himself describing how some suspect fit the
"criminal profile," then they inserted O'Reilly's name. Very funny! Perhaps
Bill's
way of making up for insulting Aunt Bee awhile back ("You can't go around
solving problems just by having Aunt Bee make a pie or something!").

I am not sure what that was about, but I do know Katie is a long time TAGS fan.
My friend once told me about his classmate who worked with Katie at NBC and
said there were issues of The Bullet at the studio.

Hi all,

"LEONARD BLUSH!!!! LEONARD BLUSH!!!! IS THAT ALL YOU CAN THINK ABOUT IS
LEONARD BLUSH."

Just thought I should say it and I do believe Andy doesn't know who
Leonard Blush is in episode before the convict episode.

God Bless

I tuned in this morning just in time to hear Catie Couric making an apology to
the TAGS fans about an interview she had made mentioning something about
mispronouncing a name.
Yesterday Katie interviewed Eugene Levy an actor in the new movie "In a New
York Minute" starring the Olsen twins. I didn't catch it all ,but I heard him
say he loved TAGS for it's great writing and so forth. Katie agreed it was a
great show and even mentioned "Opie the Bird Man" episode. Barb314

I was watching Regis and Kelly this morning and their guest was Eugene
Levy. He was describing
a character he is playing in a new movie - a truant officer - and he
said he put some Barney Fife
into the character. He asked the audience if they knew who that is and
of course everybody
CHEERED wildly.

>>>Was watching "Opie's Unforgettable Character" today and noticed a moment
where Goober speaks with an inner voice, in other words we "hear" what
Goober is thinking. This is the first time I remember seeing this device
used in the show. Are there others?

That was the only time this unusual plot device was used on TAGS. You must
be one o' them trained noticers, Steve!

Brad, I agree with you. There is one spot in this episode where it does look
like it is a double and not the real Aunt Bee driving the car. I never said
anything before because I was afraid it was just my imagination.

I guess I just figured it was a "compelshion" I had.

Brad,

I have thought the same thing everytime I've watched that too. It's the
same with Floyd. Can't remember which episode but know for sure it
wasn't our dear Floyd behind the wheel...

Maybe Francis was uncomfortable with drving that way, or the show's
producers wanted it done in such a way that it required a stunt person.

I think Russel may have answered the question, after all these years.
I never thought about what color the sets were in black and white, and greens
and blues like they used would have been correct for b&w film.

Now another question i have wondered about, What ever happened to all the props
used in the shows.
I saw somewhere that some of the lamps i think were used in other movies
because it was all just stored back in the prop room with other "junk".
Anybody have any more info on what happened to all the things used?

Unfortunately, our bellowed Andy lost to Randy Travis for Country Album
of the Year, but it was sure great to have a Mayberry tie in at this
year's Dove Awards. and to see Andy's name printed in the program book.

My 54th birthday today, had a wonderful time! Parade through town with
Barney blaring the siren. Aunt Bee's wonderful fudge cake and home made ice
cream. Clara's rhubarb pie, Andy's sherbet and ginger ale punch.

It was good to see everyone, Goober, Gomer home on leave, Otis and the
Morrison sisters! Opie bought me a too personal gift that Andy made him
return  to  Weaver's.

Mrs. 'Brendlemight', my landlady since Barney got that raise and got a place
of his own. Floyd's ten-percent discount on a haircut. Mr. Schwump, he's
always there, rock-steady and silent.

Had a pork chop samich at the diner for dinner. A soda at the drug store
that Ellie made for me. We partied till almost a quarter to eleven at
Howard's bachelor-pad!

All in all quite a day. Now in bed I hear the crickets chirpin and the trees
are so full.

Greetings folks,

Just a quick note to let you know that the Mayberry Emporium Website has a
few new updates for May.

We have added several new DVD's including the rare "Andy and Helen Get
Married" and "Andy's Baby" episodes. There is also a great DVD of the classic
Donahue show with Andy, Don, George and Jim.

There is a new CD with an unreleased interview with Andy made in North
Carolina in 1978. Some really good listening,

As you all know tickets for "Mayberry in the Midwest 3" are now on sale. Just
as last year I had the honor of designing a commemorative print for the show.
You can get a sneak preview of the print. They will be available for sale
very shortly at the Mayberry in the Midwest website
(www.mayberryinthemidwest.com)

Some great free stuff is hidden around the site so stop by and give it a look.

As always make Weaver's Department store your first stop for your Mayberry
items. Then if you need something extra stop by the Mayberry Emporium
(www.mayberry-emporium.com)

I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the Mayberry Events around the
country this year.

Lots of luck to you and yours,

Gary
