In the episode where Gomer takes over the tenor solo, Leonard Blush is
mentioned to Andy. He seems to not know who he is, In a later episode, he
said he wanted to hear Leonard Blush sing instead of hearing about the escaped
criminal. Which episode came first?

In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of
our friends.

Yes, I do remember that very funny sketch, which also featured Joe Flaherty
as Barney Fife and Robin Duke as Aunt Bee. Levy did an outstanding impression
of Floyd, and once brought him back in another sketch that poked fun at "The
Godfather."

BTW has anyone ever seen the "Andy Griffith Show '98" sketch on "Mad TV"? I
saw it over the weekend for the first time. This version has Andy acting like
a corrupt cop, beating Otis Rodney King-style, planting drugs in Clara
Edwards' car and torturing Floyd (in a scene that also spoofs the Quentin
Tarantino
film "Reservoir Dogs"). Politically incorrect and offensive as all
get-out...but still very funny. Whoever wrote the sketch obviously knew their
Mayberry
lore, and there are even repeated references to the famous "Pickle Story."

Was watching an episode of "The Rifleman" on Hallmark Channel, and noticed the
similarity in the relationship between Lucas and Mark that Andy had with Opie.
Both single parents, both boys called their father "Pa", and both fathers
learned from their sons. I don't remember seeing TAGS alumni on Rifleman,
probably because they were filmed at different studios. This episode even had
another similarity. Mark had snagged a hawk in his rabbit trap, and wanted to
keep it. Lucas went along with it for awhile, until the end of the show when
Mark realized that the bird needed to be free. An excellent episode, and I
have moved Lucas up into a tie with Andy as my 2nd favorite tv father (with
Ward Cleaver just barely edging them both out).
