Hey Fellow Noticers !
We were watching an episode of The Munsters with our grand-daughter , on
Sunday afternoon when who should appear on the screen but "our" sweet
Charleen's
"Darling Person" Doug Wash . He looked out of place but other wise his "Sweet
Charming Self!"
Also I had a "sweet Mayberry Moment " recently . Our married daughter was
babysitting with several of our other small grandchildren , two of which are
boys
ages two and three . When it came time for the little ones to go down for an
after -
noon nap our daughter put them on sofas in front of the T-V . She then got
out
several movies for them to choose from to watch before going to sleep .
Among their choices were some very popular Disney movies for little ones and
one "Andy tape". Both of the boys , in unison , yelled out"Andy Griffith !"
The
three year old then turned to me and said , "I like Andy Griffith!" I of
course
said , "Me too !" Those boys are going to grow up just fine !!!!
"Now , if the was giraffes??????

I remember really enjoying NBC's 'SCTV's Network 90' 's sketch of 'The Merv
Griffith Show' in July 1981. The character was almost a hybrid of Merv and
Andy. Ron Howard parodied himself on 'Saturday Night Live' in 'Opie's Back' in
October 1982.
Concerning Aunt Bee's stunt driving double in 'Aunt Bee's Learns to Drive',
for some reason, it brings to mind the chase scenes in the 'Batman' episodes
they filmed on Forty Acres. Adam West never drove in the high risk driving
scenes either. He was on the sidelines drinking coffee. You never know, it
might
have been Aunt Bee's coffee.
I believe there might have been another Bee-double on TAGS in 'Barney's First
Car.' When Barney's car finally died, Aunt Bee is seen helping the others
push the car, but we don't see her face.

I read online that there is going to be a county fair in Mt. Airy during
Mayberry Days. Does anyone else know about this?
Have a Mayberry kind of day.

I saw a MAD TV advertisement of a Mayberry spoof a couple years ago, but
unfortunately didn't get to see the show. It showed Hannibal Lector being
incarcerated in the Mayberry jail and telling Andy that he'd like to eat Aunt
Bee.
I saw a TAGS alum on The Rifleman once. Denver Pyle portrayed a hangman.
Later in a TAGS episode Briscoe Darling said neckties made him nervous ever
since he'd seen a hanging.
Charley, since the Mavs are now out of the playoffs I'm rooting for the spurs.

On the TODAY show when Katie Couric was interviewing Eugene Levy.
Eugene said he based his character on Barney Fife, the new Olson twins
movie, he plays a truant officer.
How Barney is nervous and how he wants everything to go right.
Katie asked Eugene if he knew who Barney's girlfriend was on TAGS, he
couldn't remember.
Katie said Louann Poovey and that Helen was Andy's girlfriend.
I was screaming at the T.V. no, no, no, Louann was Gomer's girlfriend on
Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., Thelma Lou was Barney's girlfriend.
I also saw when Eugene was on Regis and Kelly, when he asked if anyone knew
who Barney Fife was the whole place started screaming and clapping.
This was about two weeks ago on Regis and Kelly, Regis wasn't on the show
that day and Kelly's co-host was Faith Ford.
They star together on Hope and Faith, I have only seen this show a few
times.
Kelly said that a guest star on Hope and Faith said that Faith Ford looked
like Don Knotts.
Kelly put a picture of Don next to Faith and Faith made a face like Don had
in the picture.
The picture was from the movie 'The Shakiest Gun in the West'.
Faith said she thought that was a compliment about looking like Don Knotts.
Faith's sister Devon O'Day works as a producer on a radio station in
Nashville.
This is BIG, REAL BIG.
Happy weekend coming up and not just because it's Mother's Day.
I'm not a mother just the aunt and step-aunt to some great kids.
The Local UPN channel in Nashville will be showing the TOP 30 episodes of
TAGS.
Folks that is 15 hours of TAGS, my VCR will be humming and taping this
weekend.
The announcer said they will be shown in black and white.
TAGS starts on Saturday at 3p.m. till 11p.m. and Sunday from 12p.m. till
7p.m.
The UPN channel shows TAGS everyday at 10p.m. till 11p.m. in Nashville.

Sunday night while watching TAGS at 8 EST Mrs. Sprague was on. It was the
episode where Andy meets Howard and they double date with Helen and the girl
who
works in the same building as Howard. Then at 9 I caught a quick glance of
her (Mrs. Sprague) on Bewitched. I didn't get to watch the episode. Just
still
had on the TV and there she was. I swear she was wearing the same dress she
had on TAGS just an hour before. Did anyone else catch that?

>>>In the episode where Gomer takes the tenor solo from Barney, Barney
mentions the name of Leonard Blush. Andy says that he's never heard of him.
Was this episode taped before the one where Andy wanted to hear Leonard
Blush sing on the radio instead of listening to the bulletin about escaped
criminals?<<<<
The Song Festers is 116 but I'm not sure which Episode Andy is listening to
the radio on.. If it's "Convicts at Large" where the ladies escape that's
back at episode 74.
Another strange order is this in Episode #86 Andy Discovers America, Helen
comes storming into the courthouse and later is cordial with Andy as he
agrees to walk her home, and purposely excludes Barney. Later in Episode
#92 "A Wife for Andy" Barney and Thelma Lou work to bring Andy and Helen
together as if they barely knew each other.

Subject: Henry Bennett--not a Jinx at all

I was reading a travel magazine today and was stunned to see the name of
Henry Bennett.
Is a section about the Wisconsin Dells, AAA Home and Away magazine reports
"Then came Henry Bennett" Bennett opened a photography studio here in 1875
(a little before his Mayberry years) and took a liking to the outdoor
settings. In a stroke of pioneer marketing genius, he produced thousands of
card-mounted pictures and sold them through traveling agents. (with the name
of his studio prominently featured) It can be argued that the advent of
modern American tourism began when Bennett's pictures started reaching
comfortable Victorian living rooms. Visitors came by the trainload and the
river dells became a popular tourist destination.
Wow, what a guy. Also it looks like there is a library named after him at
Southeastern University.
I guess that was a real acting job he did about that jinx stuff. He was
quite a guy, even if he couldn't fish worth a lick!.
