Kim and All,

I am afraid the pickle factory in Atkins is closing! I was shocked when I saw
the news report. I loved Atkins pickles and was disappointed when the Atkins
Pickle Company was bought out and very upset when the company decided to close
the plant. There are changes in life that I just don't like sometimes, because
change is not always good.

Have a Great Mayberry Weekend!!!

Subject: Barney's 45th
Date: Sat, 8 May 2004 11:48:07 -0400

Thanks for all your fine ideas on Barney's 45 anniversary of bein' a lawman.
I think its gonna be a great celebration.

Here's a few more things that Sarah says folks have said over the phone.

Foley is willing to throw in 45 Mr. Cookie bars! And a loaf of salt-rising
bread.

Gomer said Wally will let him give two quarts of 45 weight oil...and gas ner
oil are normally free..just air and water..but they don't have no 45 weight,
so he's gonna mix a quart of 30 weight, with a quart of 15 weight.

Choney thought it would be funny of everybody parked wrong, Littered, or
Jaywalked, and see how long it takes Barney to write 45 tickets (which Andy
would later void, on-a-count-of its "Barney 45 Day" where you supposed to
void everything in 45s).

Otis say he would have somebody brew up a special recipe of 45-proof. Andy
said, No, Barney can't handle any liquor. Otis said "who said anything
about Barney drinkin it?" HE was gonna celebrate Barney 45 day.

Gomer also said we could give Barney 45 jars of Miracle Salve--'Cepting he's
still got over 45 cases in the basement of the courthouse.

Walker's Drugstore is willin to make a 45-dip ice cream Sundae for Barney to
have and share whomever else wants to grab a spoon, and dig in. (Lydia said
No, Ice cream give her the herpes and possibly mad dairy cow disease)

Briscoe and the Boys are gonna perform a little song they wrote up for the
occasion called "Put on your fancy flannels go get Charlene and Dud--We're
raise a toast to the King of "nip-it in the bud"

I think I'll join in and sing second tenor, even though I am..

I just read this in my local paper; (sounds like a job for the boys down at
the lab)

Plaque honoring TV show is stolen-Raleigh NC, (AP)

It probably never would have happened in Mayberry.
Someone stole the plaque from a park statue commemorating "The Andy Griffith
Show."
The plaque, bearing the words "a simpler time, a sweeter place," had only been
installed in Pullen Park 6 months ago to mark the bronze statue depicting
Sheriff Andy Taylor and his son Opie, walking off to the fishing hole.
The plaque and it's concrete setting disappeared between 2 pm Wednesday, April
28th, and noon Monday, May 3rd, when park workers noticed it missing. Whoever
dug it up took the time to fill in the hole and cover it with mulch, said a
police spokesman.

Having been there to see the statue dedicated, was a thrill. I only hope it
will be recovered or replaced soon.

They got it from us.

What did Gomer mean when he said to Barney "You just go up an alley and holler
fish!" ? I guess this was supposed to be an insult but I've never
understood it.
