Good morning everyone,

Had a real eye opening experience last week.......I was in a tornado. I'd
never seen a tornado before, it was dark and all the lights went off in the
businesses around.....suddenly the whole sky lit up with lightning and I saw
the tornado bearing down on me and thought, "what do I do now?" I knew I
shouldn't stay in my car, but there was a car wash at a Shell station made
out of stone, and it's like I was directed to go in there. So I did. It
was the scaredest I've ever been in my whole life......everything blew
around me and I could even feel my car lifting up and down like I was
driving over dips in the road.

Anyhow, I'm ok. Lots of damage up here, but no one was killed that we've
heard.

Just giving God the praise for his protection and thanking goodness I ain't
one of them giraffes!! And if Opie thought that little dog was trembling
.... he oughta seen me!! :-)

No one responded to my trivia question on Bill Idelson's "appearance" on
TAGS, so here's the answer:

Bill's voice can be heard as the narrator of the Travelogue program
featuring the Caribbean island that Howard watched with the Taylors in
"Howard's New Life". The narration along with the stunning beauty of the
island drew Howard right in and the next thing we know he and his bongos are
headed to the Caribbean.

BTW, Bill Idelson also appeared in a "Gomer Pyle USMC" episode as Sgt.
Carter's sister's fianci.

I want to wish a Happy Birthday to Andy (and many more). The more I watch the
shows, the better they become and the meaning becomes deeper and deeper in my
daily life. Boy, sure would be nice to live in an era like that. You look
at it and there is no reason why it could not be; although, it never will.
Well, you all get my drift. Just had to wander back in time to the good old
days. You certainly have left a warm feeling in our hearts and minds.

I have the gospel tapes by Andy in my van that I listen to when I am traveling
and really crank them up and sing right along with him. He sure has made an
impact on the world, don't you think? Well, enough rambling. Just my
thoughts and hope everyone else feels the same.

Have a great day everyone and especially you Andy.

I watched the race (the beginning anyway) for the first time so I could catch
"Gomer" singing the song. I thought it was a sweet, nostalgic song and he
seemed like the right person to sing it.

>How about Mrs. McGruder. Or Mrs. McGruder's cousin?

You know what people will call the dog if you name her Mrs. McGruder or her
cousin?....The Beaver.

If you name her Mary Grace you can always refer to her as Tall (you say
she's short and low to the ground?), Dark and a Doorprize.

Harriet, I name all my chickens "Scratch"

......"Johnny Paul Jason says chewing tar is good for your teeth"..."That's
an old wives tale"...."Johnny Paul ain't married"........

The following was forwarded to me from the Surry Arts Council regarding
hotel rooms for Mayberry Days:

>Roger Arrington with the Comfort Inn just called - he had a group that was
scheduled for Mayberry Days that just cancelled.
>He now has 24 rooms available for Mayberry Days.

Most of the other Mount Airy hotels are already full that weekend, so here
is an opportunity to stay close to the fun. The Comfort Inn phone number is
(336) 789-2000.

Tickets are still available for all the events and can be purchased online
at www.surryarts.org (however, you will have to call SAC for Colonel Tim's
Talent Time tickets (336) 786-7998 or 800-286-6193).
