Hi all,

What kind of NUT, would cut Opie's fishing pole from the statue!!!!

Thats worse than a compelsion, thats lucdicrus! I have to agree with my
friend, none of this would have happened if it were put in Mt. Airy!

God Bless

Michael

Thanks Jeff for your tip on the Comfort Inn during Mayberry Days. I just
made my reservations. I am excited about attending this year. I normally
attend every year but I have never stayed all weekend. I am especially
excited about the stage production of No Time For Sergents.

Thanks,

Teresa Elkins

Fishing Rods Taken From Andy Griffith Statue

POSTED: 5:42 pm EDT June 1, 2004
UPDATED: 6:08 pm EDT June 1, 2004

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Some thieves are stealing memorabilia associated with "The
Andy Griffith Show."

Fans visiting the statue will notice both fishing rods from the statue are
missing.

The life-sized tribute went up in Raleigh's Pullen Park six months ago.

Last month, Parks and Recreation workers noticed the plaque was missing.
Officials say it is still missing.

It is rather embarrassing to live in Raleigh with such goings on. Perhaps TV
Land can relocate the statue to Mount Airy and not have to worry about it
disappearing piece by piece.

On a brighter note, you are very welcome Teresa. I'm glad you were able to
"get yourself a room" for Mayberry Days.

Once again thieves have struck Raleigh's Pullen Park and the statue. This
time they took Andy and Opie's fishing rods, with the exception of the reel
part,
which is part of the statue. The rods were separate pieces and were removed.

I heard and odd fact known by few the other day on radio that I thought
Barney would be interested in... Did you know that giraffes can't swim?
Maybe can't...but boy they're selfish! I heard this on their segment
called "Betcha didn't know.." I think they need to change it to "Odd
Facts Known By Few".

By the way, about a month ago I returned from being out of town for two
months and had been unable to recieve the digest. It took me a month to
catch up on the 70-something issues that had accumulated. Anyway, I just
wanted to say that it is good to be back in Mayberry again!

Subject: Reckon' Lil Ope Really Had Red Hair?

Hello to you fine people of the TAGRWC. My family was watching
a tape of the Town Jinx episode the other day and it brought back a memory I
wanted to share with
you. Maybe you will get a kick out of it.

My mom was six, about the same age of Ron Howard during the original airing
of Andy and. of course, the
show is in black and white. But the main point of my story is that none
of them ever dreamed they would EVER be seeing this show in color. So when
Barney mentions Opie's hair being red, Mother told us that someone in her
family remarked, "I wonder if Opie's hair really is red?" And from that an
entire evening was spent discussing Opie's real hair color--read or dirty
blond.
You have to remember the family's TV wasn't all that sharp either.

Most agreed that it was red, but a couple held out they were being fooled
just like they fooled us later
on when the government lied and said a man walked on the moon. Such
foolishness!

Times--they do change.

You can call me,

Hey, Sarah--and my hair color is blonde, that's natural blonde right out of
the bottle!
