Now you old timers know this, so this is for the new arrivals.....Sorry, I
couldn't help it but, I have told this story before.

On the subject of the TAGS theme, I am one of those lucky guys who has a wife
who did not object to the TAGS theme being played at our wedding. It was great!
Has anyone else done this?

Hi all,

I and my friend have been to her grave, on our way to Mt. Airy as a
matter of fact,. If you are on 64W, it goes right through Siler City and
it is on the western side of town. The name of the cemetary escapes me
right now, but it is a large tall monument in the newest (westerly) are
of the cemetary. I know the directions I'm giving aren't the best but
it's kinda hard to describe. As you are going west on 64 you will be
right close to the cemetary when you go under a small overpass. Once
under this over pass you can look to your immediate left and you will see
the cemetary entrance. I think this is the only overpass you go under so
it might be the easiest way to recognize the area. Like I said her grave
is to the farthest west in the cemetary. Hope you find it and are
blessed by it.

God Bless

Michael

Can anyone tell me how to locate Frances Bavier's (Aunt Bees) grave in
Siler City. I will be going thorough North Carolina this weekend and
would like to find it. Thanks
Stan Oliver

Stan,
You can go to : WWW.Findagrave.com. Below is the direct link where you can
see her grave site. If you haven't been to this site before I highly recommend
it, you can find death info on many famous people, actors, as well as a small
written bio for each.

I wondered about that too, I've mentioned something like that in the past. I
don't think I would have the time to be in charge of something like that (as
someone suggested) but I would take part. Seems like all the women I meet in
the "real world" who love TAGS as much as I do, are all married.

The cemetery is on the west side of town, just off US 64 (which is the main E-W
road through town). I always look for the overpass because the cemetery is on
the south side of 64, just beyond (or ahead of) it. The headstone is very
prominent as you look down the slope from the road going in. Despite the
proximity to the highway, I think it is a peaceful spot.

Safe travels to you.

I received several e mails telling me that Frank Meyers was played by Andy
Cldye. That was the name that was given on NPR's Old Time Radio.
I miswrote the name the next morning. His voice hadn't changed a bit since he
did that radio broadcast in the early '40's. He was playing the part of
Hopilong Cassidy's sidekick. Thought of old Floyd today as I sat outside in

Frank Meyers was played by character actor Andy Clyde. He
also played George McMichael on The Real McCoys, and was in a
lot of old westerns. I see him quite a bit on the western
channel.

It's too bad there are no longer places like Mrs. Wiley's where single people
could go to socialize and participate in tag dances. It was much more innocent
than going to a bar. I met my husband over a phone line, although we grew up
within miles of each other in two Dallas suburbs. If there had been a place
like Mrs. Wiley's, we may have met sooner. I'm sure she would have insisted on
it.

  ***

Since several folks have had questions about the Mayberry Cast Reunion at
Gaylord Opryland Resort (June 18-20), here are a few clarifications.B

Gaylord Opryland recently changed their ticketing system. Rather than mailing
Mayberry Reunion package tickets in the midst of that transition, they'll now
include all event information and an itinerary in a packet thatB package
guestsB receive at theirB hotel check-in.B

But here are a few advance details:B

The Aunt Bee's Blue Ribbon Dinner and Cast Reunion Show will be on Fri., June
18, at 7 p.m.B All seats will be reserved, so there will be no need to arrive
early to get your assigned seat. Doors won't even open until 6:45.B (If you
do arrive early, TAGSRWC's Weaver's Dept. Store will be set up for shopping
next to the dinner's Tennessee Ballroom, probably as early as 3 p.m.)

For people who have purchased a package that includes room accommodations,
there will be an Autograph Session with the stars beginning at 1 p.m. on Sat.,
June 19,B in the same ballroom. The doors won't open until about 12:45 p.m.,
but
they know that we Mayberry fans are nuts, so they'll have stanchions and
queues set up for early arrivals.B (And Weaver's will set up again, probably
by at
least 11 a.m. for those who want to kill time before the autograph session.
We think that Weaver's will also be located in a place that's accessible to
people who are not attending the Autograph Session.)

There will be trivia, look-alike, and theme-song whistling contests on the
ballroom stage during the Autograph Session.

The Grand Ole Opry portion of the weekend that will feature MayberryB is the
show beginningB at 6:30 p.m. on Sat.

While youbre at Gaylord Opryland for the Mayberry Cast Reunion, you might
also want to plan to visit their new exhibit, Rockwellbs America: Celebrating
the
Art of Norman Rockwell.B Itbs an interactive exhibit that brings to life the
spirit of America through Rockwellbs most-famous Saturday Evening Post
covers.B Show a ticket stub from any Mayberry Cast Reunion event and receive
$2 off
adult tickets, or make advance reservations by calling 1-888-OPRY-872 and refer
to code 4A18.

The cast membersB scheduled for the weekend are:B Elinor Donahue (Ellie
Walker), Don Knotts, George Lindsey, Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou), The Dillards
(Rodney
Dillard, Doug Dillard, and Dean Webb), Maggie Peterson Mancuso (Charlene
Darling), and Howard Morris (Ernest T. Bass).

Here's the major update for local fans who want to attend: Tickets for "Aunt
Bee's Blue Ribbon Dinner and Reunion Show" are available for $65, plus tax and
gratuity. There are also still room packages (which are the only way to get
into the Autograph Session) starting at $244 per person at Radisson Hotel at
Opryland or $279 per person for a room at Gaylord Opryland Resort.B The room
packages include the Reunion dinner show, Grand Ole Opry and one breakfast. You
can call 1-800-677-9872 for reservations or info about all of these options.

I hope that covers most questions. If not, call Gaylord Opryland Resort.

That's all--

Was watching the Barney's Uniform episode last night and I got to thinking,
were town dances a reality 40 or 50 years ago or were they strictly scene
setters for TV? Growing up in the south the only organizations that held or
sponsored dances were schools. Could this be a regional event?

Also, I caught episodes of Matlock as well as Happy Days this past Monday.
In the Matlock episode Barney was telling Andy how he always bought his
Christmas presents in October and that his mother was the same way. He went
on to tell Andy how glad he would be to do his Christmas shopping for him.
Change the stage and wardrobe and tweak the subject and you had a scene
right out of TAGS!

In the Happy Days episode Ralph and Potsy brought a couple of "fun girls"
(my reference) to a fraternity dance. They told Richie that the girls were
waitresses at the Bluebird Diner.

Chris in Chattanooga, who needs a good suit and reckons he'll have to go to
Mt. Pilot to get it.

Subject: DVD Prices, Paramount, and TAGS
Date: Tue, 8 Jun 2004 20:29:27 -0500

I would not look for TAGS to be very cheap when it is release on DVD if
Paramount holds true to its past pricing. If I am not mistaken Paramount has
rights to TAGS as well as Star Trek. Here is how the various series I have
bought have priced out.

Star Trek the original series is available on 40 DVD's with 2 episodes on each
DVD.
Depending on where you buy, it can run from 17 to 20 dollars per DVD.
For the whole series you are looking at an investment of 680-800 dollars for
the complete
series or 226-266 per Season (Star Trek Original series had a 3 year run)

Star Trek Next Gen is available in 7, season by season sets. Each set is
roughly 100 dollars.
for a total of 700 dollars for the entire set.

Another series I collected is The Twilight Zone on DVD altho not owned by
Paramount it has
a similar pricing structure.

When Twilight Zone first was released on DVD it was on 45 DVD's with 3 or 4
episodes per DVD (depending on whether there was a one hour episode on it or
not) Each disc was roughly 13 to 15 dollars per disc for a total of 585-675
dollars for the entire set or
117-135 dollars per season (Twilight Zone had a 5 year run)

It has now been re-released into a 5 piece collection of 9 disks per set that
costs roughly 87-99 dollars per set for a total cost of 435-495 dollars.
Unfortunaly I already had bought roughly 3 quarters of the TZ collection in
the single disk sets before they released it this way.

Columbia House sold twenty VHS tapes of TAGS with 4 episodes each for a total
of 80 episodes which is roughly equivilent to 3 seasons of episodes. The set
cost roughly 460 dollars.
Per season cost of roughly 153 dollars.

I truly expect TAGS to be priced in a simular vein, although I would be very
happy for it not to be.

Hey Folks,

I've heard the requests and I've listened. I've added a "Mrs. Wiley's"
section to the NEW Golden Door to Good Fellowship board here at WBMUTBB.

The Golden Door to Good Fellowship has been around for YEARS but it's never
really been used by our members so I figured it was time to make a change.

You can get to the Golden Door from the Members Only section of the WBMUTBB
Chapter website.
http://www.wbmutbb.com

The Members Only area password is: harvey

Once there you will see the link to the Golden Door site. You will have to
register in order to post messages at the Golden Door and some areas will
require that you be confirmed to be WBMUTBB Members.

The Mrs. Wiley's area is for our Single friends here in Mayberry. I hope you
find it useful. Thanks to Vivian for pushing this request and thanks to the
others that had requested it before. Y'all got me to actually do some work for
you and get it set up.

Enjoy!!!!
