How are we supposed to vote for our favorite episodes on TVLand when they
don't even list Opie's Charity or Floyd, the Gay Deceiver???
That's it..........I'm going to Nashville! (I'll be staying at Opryland if
anyone needs me.)

Re: I've spent much of the last two weeks at professional meetings.
Among
others, I was privileged to rub shoulders with Ron Howard and Hal Smith.
I was curious . especially about Otis - so I followed the link. What I
can't understand is why you didn't mention Linda Taylor being there with
Ron Howard and yourself. Her picture was posted right there . perhaps
she is a long-lost cousin of Andy's?

Subject: TAGS Theme At the Wedding
From: Kris R Sellers <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I am also fortunate enough to have the TAGS theme played at our wedding.
Actually, I couldn't get her to commit to the actual wedding. (Something
about dreaming about this day and wanting it to be perfect...I don't
know.) Anyway, I did con her in to having it at the reception! The
bridal party entered to "The Final Countdown" by Europe as their names
were announced, then we took cut 18 from "American Originals" and entered
to that. A great way to start a marriage!! :)

I approve of the puppy name choice also. My daughter's dog Ellie is the
best dog we have ever had.
Here's a picture of our English Springer Spaniel, Miss Ellie. The little
guy on top of the table is a very young Otis, our other Springer. He was
only a few weeks old there, before he started Just Plain Guzzlin' - that
really put some weight on him, I guess.
http://www.krentzcpa.com/images/ellie_otis.jpg
He's now two and much larger than Ellie who is four. You can see Ellie's
"house" with the pink lettering in the background. I would have used the
wood burning set, but it was in at Emmett's shop for some repairs. I put
"house" in quotes because I don't think she's ever set foot in it, hah.
She sleeps at the foot of our bed, such a spoiled pup.

If anyone gets this going - my suggestion is to call it Mrs. Wiley's Social
Circle. The web master can call him/herself Ernest T. Bass and you have to
know how to "Give it to em firm". Any single female will be referred to as
Romeena and/or Hogette Winslow....but please, no rock throwing.

Subject: the cost of TAGS seasons on DVD--priceless
Date: Wed, 9 Jun 2004 10:47:22 -0400
Hey guys,
Don't post often, but wanted to say a couple things about the potential costs
of TAGS Season 1 on DVD.
First, I buy a lot of classic TV on DVD--cause who can stand the way cable
networks cut up to 6 minutes from some of these shows for another commercial
for diet pills! I want my classic TV and I want it uncut. I am happy when shows
like Sanford & Son cost $20 for a season, but I also am willing to pay $60 to
get a full season of Dick Van Dyke in pristine Black & White--along with some
extras, like cast interviews and old commercials!
We cannot compare the pricing of a set for a show like Sanford or What's
Happening or Friends or Dukes of Hazzard. While these shows all have
followings, none are quite as "cult" or "classic" status as TAGS or "I Love
Lucy."
I think we may have a clue in the pricing of TAGS from Paramount when we look
at I Love Lucy, another Paramount product. One website, DVDempire.com, just
announced a pre-order for the 31 episodes of Season 2 of I Love Lucy--suggested
retail: $60; online purchase cost $41. This would be more in line with the
costs of the 5 seasons of Dick Van Dyke.
Regardless, if the cost is $80, I know that I will put a second mortgage on the
house before letting it sit on the shelf at Best Buy unpurchased. I want all 8
seasons--which I don't see happening. But I at least want Season 1 to sell well
enough so they will release Season 2-5!
We as fans botched the Columbia House deal and didn't support it well enough
for them to release more than 20 volumes. Let's not make that mistake again.
Afterall, Fox had planned on releasing all 7 seasons of Mary Tyler Moore Show
on DVD and had even prepared materials for the first two seasons, but cancelled
the plans when Season 1 failed to meet their expectations.
Sorry for the long post and the "soapbox rantings at the end.
peace,
Phil B.

Oh Allen, a prince of a fellow you are. I had sent my comments regarding
Mrs. Wiley's Social Circle before I got to this message.....now let's all
not bombard Mrs. Wiley to quickly. She thinks we're all from Back Bay

hi.....new to the wbmutbb group and enjoying it thoroughly. i'm 49,
and grew up with tags and always felt a special closeness to the folks
in mayberry and the show in general. it has stood me in good stead. i
don't know how many times i've found myself in a tough spot, stopped,
and asked myself, 'what would andge do?'. more often than not, a
reasonable and morally sound idea comes up. i miss mayberry terribly,
but it still lives inside all of us, and always will. i only wish the
dreck they serve up on tv these days was 1/2 as good as the old tags
episodes.
at any rate, glad to be here, and am looking forward to becoming part
of the group. after all, it's more than an old tv show we're into
here....as i said, it's a frame of mind. *that* never leaves one.
the pics of aunt bee's grave made me sad....truth be told, i teared up
a bit. i know it's only a matter of time before they all start to pass
away, and i'm not looking forward to it, but all things must
pass....that is, except things which provide one with an approach to
life, and much more. death cannot take that from us.
God bless Mayberry (and all of you!),

Hey folks,
Good news!
I just spoke to Jean Carson and she wanted to let everyone know that she is
home now and doing much, much better. Her surgery went well.
She received hundreds of get well wishes and wants to thank everyone for
their good thoughts and prayers. She said she can't believe the generosity and
thoughtfulness of her Mayberry fans.
Her regret is that she will miss the show in Nashville next week and hopes
everyone understands why she can't be with us.
She sends her love and sincere thankyou's to you all.

They still have street dances in Western North Carolina, bands playing
outdoors with a wooden dance floor set up. Everyone brings lawn chairs, the
band just passes the hat for expense money. We have been to these dances in
Cherokee, Bryson City, Sylva, etc. Mary

You have to realize that those series consisted of hour length episodes. Of
course they are going to more expensive then the TAGS episodes. Realistically
you are probably looking at around $35-45 dollars for each individual season.
