15th Annual Mayberry Days Update

Tickets are now available for the newly announced Mayberry Days Spaghetti
Dinner on Saturday, September 25th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Central United
Methodist Church (UMC). Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
The meal will include spaghetti (made with plenty of oregano), salad, bread,
drinks and dessert.

Only 300 tickets are available, and as members of WBMUTBB, you have the first
opportunity to get them through the SAC website at www.surryarts.org or by
phone 1-800-286-6193. Professor Brower's Lecture and TAGSRWC Annual Meeting are
being combined and starting earlier so there will be time to eat before Colonel
Tim's (there is no dinner during the meeting this year). The spaghetti dinner
is sponsored by the Surry Arts Council and Central UMC, which is just north of
downtown at 1909 North Main Street (plenty of parking).

For those of us who have tried to balance dinner on our laps in the Cinema
during the meeting, this is a welcome change brought about by suggestions from
fans. With the perfect tie to the "Dinner at Eight" episode, it is a great
addition to Mayberry Days!

More good news related to recent posts from the single WMBUTBB members. Another
addition to the big weekend in Mount Airy is a continental breakfast for single
adults. It will be Saturday, September 25th from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. (starts
before the parade at 9 am). This is also at Central UMC and is hosted by The
North Carolina Singles Council of the United Methodist Church. A special ticket
for both the singles breakast and the spaghetti dinner is $10 and only
available by calling Janet Hitch at 1-800-562-7929 ext 113. This is only for
single adults, so please contact the Surry Arts Council for dinner tickets if
you are "overqualified" or unable to attend the breakfast. (Note: Janet will be
back in the office on June 14, so it is best to call her after that).

It's BIG!

Which episode has a scene in it where Barney gets the sweater with the "A" on
it and says, "Call me Ace."

Can any of our experts help? Paul?

Thanks,
Tim

I'm tickled to hear about the new Mrs. Wiley's social area for singles, it's a
great idea. I thought about what I'd name a giraffe, if I had one, and decided
that it wouldn't matter. He'd be too selfish to answer to it anyway.

I attended the 2001 Opryland event and can comment on the male appearal. Most
were dressed nicely for the dinner in slacks and a knit or button-down shirt.
There were a few suit/sports coat and ties and also t-shirts and shorts. The
autograph session was much more casual. The Opry on sees a mix of dress, but it
was about the same level as the dinner. My goal is somewhere below my "Sunday
to go meeting" clothes and above t-shirt and jeans.

I didn't notice if Aunt Bee or Clara were wearing their earring or not.

See you in Nashville (and Brent)!

Amen, brother! What was it that Aunt Bee said when campaigning? If that is
the will of the people, they shall have it!!!! (Please correct the quote. I
like to be accurate about such important things. Thanks.)

Re: How are we supposed to vote for our favorite episodes on TVLand
when they don't even list Opie's Charity or Floyd, the Gay Deceiver???

Yeah!!! And not only that, they didn't have "The Sermon For Today",
perhaps the finest episode! What's up with that?

"What's your hurry?"

PS: The most direct correlation to DVD pricing is going to be "The Dick
Van Dyke Show" (same genre, same era, same length, same quality,
almost), and they retail for 70$, so I'm counting on 70$ (with a deep
discount off retail), and will hand that money over with a deep smile
on my face! Two bucks per episode is a bargain!

Actually, The Twilight Zone was only half hour episodes for 4 out of its 5
seasons.
But, both the Star Trek series were 1 hour episodes. I really hope they don't
over price TAGS but
I'm not holding my breath as of yet. I'll buy it no matter what the cost tho
just cause it is TAGS.

As for the Columbia House Tapes, I think they would have sold better if they
had stuck to strictly
Black and White episodes. I think the mix of color and B/W turned off some
buyers.
I bought the whole set myself just so I could see some Andy again since no
local stations near me
carry the series any longer. Between that and the 16 public domain episodes
avail on DVD, it allows me
to get an Andy fix until TAGS does become available on DVD.
