Hello Fellow Mayberry Fans!
Would anyone happen to have a "School House" or "Mrs. Mendlebrights Boarding
House" for sale, I would give a VERY fair Price for one or both. If not could
anyone tell me where to go from there, other than E=Bay?
Thanks.
Don

In addition to the accent change, he entire town changed. In the first
season or so Aunt Bee cooked a lot of fried chicken. Later on in the
series she cooked more roasts & chops & less fried chicken. Fewer
biscuits & corn bread also.

>>>When the show started, even with the great response from the Danny Thomas
epsiode as the pilot - they tape all the shows for the first season before
they air them so the character's character is pretty much the same as they
don't know how the show is going to be accpeted.
>>>

Close, but not quite accurate. No producer would film an entire season's
worth of a brand new series before a single episode aired. If the show
turned out to be a flop, they would have wasted millions of dollars, and
thousands of hours of effort.

Here's how it's usually done: If a pilot succeeds, an initial batch of 13
episodes (three months' worth) are ordered. About seven or eight of these
will be finished before the first one airs. Once the show reaches the
airwaves, they'll start to make adjustments based on audience feedback. If
the show is a hit, another block of episodes will be ordered, to fill out a
full season (on TAGS it was about 32 episodes per year - these days, it's
more like 24 episodes per year). If the show is a flop, then it's replaced
with something else (known in the trade as a "mid-season replacement.")

Hey Jeff I got a big kick out of your light classics reference. I did'nt know
anybody besides me, even knew that song. Being one of the oldsters on here, I
could hear Jenette McDonald singing that one in one of her old movies.

In response to the post about people who have the same names as TAGS
characters, my cousin's name is Vicki Harms. Of course, she couldn't be the
same Vicki Harms since Harms is her married name and she is quite a bit younger
than Barney Fife. I think of my cousin every time I watch the scene where
Barney is talking about little Vicki Harms and his raspberry snowcone.

There is also Trump's Texaco Museum right below New Castle in Knightstown. That
is usually where you can find Flora and Wally hanging out between major events
at Mayberry in the Midwest. Come by for a Nectarine Crush!

Hi Harriet! (and fellow Esquirians) Am I mistaken or in the episode about
Opie's newspaper isn't some of the gossip in Mayberry After Midnight about
the Widow somebody drying her tears on "Browder" dish towels? I can't
remember her name but Barney was telling Andy about it after being at
Floyd's for a haircut. Of course, when he gets that "Gegraphic" in his
hands he doesn't hear a thing! (heehee)

We just wanted to let everyone know some of the outstanding attractions
that we have in and around New Castle that tie with "Mayberry in the Midwest."
In the small town of Millville (10 miles northeast of New Castle) is the
Wilbur Wright Birthplace and Museum. You can tour the home of the great
aviator and there is a gorgeous state of the art museum, along with picnic
area,etc.
Also in Knightstown (15 miles west of New Castle) is the Historic "Hoosier
Gym" where many of the scenes from the famous basketball movie "Hoosiers"
(starring Gene Hackman, Dennis Hopper and Barbara Hershey) was filmed. It is
a beautiful air conditioned facility dedicated to the movie, basketball and
historic Knightstown. As a matter of fact we just had a surprise visit
earlier this month from four basketball greats: Larry Bird, Magic Johnson,
LeBron James, and Carmelo Anthony. They were supposed to be doing a "secret"
visit to do some photos and filming, but just like when the "gold truck" went
through Mayberry somehow word "leaked" out and they encoutered a crowd of fans
before they left! In New Castle we have several interesting attractions
including The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame (arguably the nicest facility
dedicated to a high school sport in the nation), the New Castle High School
Fieldhouse (the largest and finest high school basketball arena in the world -
seating capacity 9,325), The Henry County Historical Museum, Summit Lake
State Park, The Henry County Arts Center and Park and beautiful downtown Baker
Park. Many of these historic sites are tied into "Mayberry in the Midwest."
The follwing is a list of events at the various sites.

Friday, July 9 1:30-2:30pm The following Mayberry stars will be meeting fans
and signing autographs

                                                     Barbara Stuart "Miss
Bunny" from Gomer Pyle, USMC
