>>>As a matter of fact, in a Shake and Bake commercial that appeared in the
very last episode, Aunt Bee told Opie, "Why land sakes! I haven't fried
chicken in a month of Sundays!"
Dixon
>>>
I wonder if the sponsors took steps to keep the words "fried chicken" out of
the scripts, hoping to increase their sales of their product?
I've heard of that commercial, but I don't remember actually seeing it. A
quick check of the web revealed that Shake 'n Bake is a Kraft product, but
TAGS was sponsored by General Foods (not to be confused with General Mills).
Either GF sold the name to Kraft later, or that commercial was for a similar
product.

Hey Everybody,
I know in the state of West Virginia, they like cole slaw on their hot dogs. I
have tried hot dogs that way before and they are good. I personally like my hot
dogs with just plain mustard.

I think the widow may have been crying into embroidered dish towels. I also
like to hear about Mayberry moments. I had one the other night watching Wheel
of Fortune. The puzzle was "The Town Of Mayberry" and Pat made a crack about
Floyd cutting his hair. I like just about any meat barbecued even, Harriett
make them close their eyes, chicken.

Carol !! I'm so sorry about your trailer or shed. Sad. I loved your
story though. I did see some chickens pushing a trailor along the
route in front of the big house the other day. Now I know Harriet tries
to keep those chikens in line but there is a bad chicken in every
pack. Anyway the odd thing was this chickens were bald. I think maybe
Harriet was trying her barbering skills or tryin' to keep them cool and
they just revolted. Well I sure hope you get your trailer back. I'll
ask all new intakes if they are here dure to trailor theft. until we
meet again... Maude at the big house

When our family moved to West Virginia I tried a hot dog with cole slaw for the
first time. I thought it was strange, but I'm game for almost anything. Ever
since then I've had my hot dogs with cole slaw. Yummy!

HI Mayberrians,
Sometimes I feel like I'm whistling in the dark when you are talking about
Cherrywine.. I never have even SEEN any. Maybe because I'm a youngin' in
the midwest?
Our high school had hot dogs but they were served with either potato
chips or applesauce ( who came up with that one? ) On the days they had hot
dogs
I brought my lunch. I've never had Hot dogs and slaw. I suppose I need to
get brave and try it with kraut first.
We do not get Tv land through our cable we are stuck with watching Rugrats
on Nick. BLAH...
Mayberry Rfd. I saw that show once... I know Ken Berry was on there
and I know RFD stands for rural free delivery.
Well I'll stop complaining and GET ON with it....
Mayberry's Midwest Mocha Momma,
Erin

We just wanted to pass along a little sad news concerning one of our "Mayberry
in the Midwest" family. Debbie Price who puts our Mayberry in the Midwest
III" Saturday evening Reunion Show program together passed away unexpectedly
this past weekend. She has been a great friend to many and an integral part
of our event and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her loving
husband and three beautiful children. We just ask our extended Mayberry
family here on the digest to keep her family and friends in your thoughts and
prayers during this difficult time.
Thank you, Curt and Karen Bell

If there was another Return to Mayberry, does anyone have ideas for the story
line?
I always thought it would be nice to see Sharon DeSpain give up her big pond
and move back, but that could cause a problem for Helen.
How about Ellie coming back to take over the drugstore - maybe open a few
more locations?
And Miss Peggy moving back as the town doctor ( she went back to school ).
Of course, that could make the town a little too hot to handle for Andy. He
wouldn't be able to go a block without running into an old girlfriend.
Hmmmm....

put it asunder. Whoever wrote that must be some kind of a nut!!"

Slaw dogs are a part of my families cycle of fun meals. I think my first
experience with this was a Dairy Queen in AL. Now we make em at home. Yum
Yum!
