Gary, here's what I want to know about that 14 CD set: was it recorded
straight from the network line? If so, does it have the CBS voice-over
announcer
talking over the credits at the end? If so, that would huge! The copies I
have don't have that, because they weren't recorded straight off the network...

Hi!

I was going through the channels on Sunday, and saw Aunt Bee in a 30
minute TV sit com called "It's A Great Life." The star was Denny(played
by Michael O'Shea or Shea), and Aunt Bee(B) played his mother. He was a
bachelor seeking to adopt a boy from France. This comedy was on the
Goodlife TV Network(one of Time Warners Digital channels). The
commercial at the end mentioned how much fun it was to drive a 1955
Chrysler - it was too hard to read the small Roman numeral date at the
end. It is always fun to see TAGS members before the AG show.

I don't know if this is related or not, but I've heard Elinor Donahue at one
of the Reunions say that she was just ready for a break after the first
season. (remember she had done Father Knows Best, and other things.

Now on this Hot Dog (and Cheerwine) thing, there are no veins poppin' out
anywhere. We're not sensitive here...High strung, maybe but not sensitive.
We don't like being called sensitive.

In my experience being here for a number of years, someone makes a comment
that is show-related--then it goes off in a different direction like
regional preferences..of soft drinks, or hotdogs fixins', or what we call
soft drinks or whatever. Generally, it goes for a few days and then gets
old quickly, but tends to go on and on because its something that many folks
have something different to say about it, ...so Allan (or one of us
self-proclaimed deputies) just reminds us to stay on the Topic of the show
and its characters.
The same thing happens if we get off on a tangent on another show.

It keeps the Digest fresh and on-Topic, If I do say so my self as a long
time Digest reader (and self-proclaimed deputy).

No harm, no ticket..it's just what makes the town run smoothly.

Now if you was to make a U-turn and go back to talkin' about Slaw Dogs, then
I would have to give you a ticket. Because we all know U-turns are illegal.
And if you did bring up Slaw Dogs that would be a U-turn, and that would be
breakin' the law!

(Gomer) CITIZENS ARREAST CITITZENS ARREAST!!!

What are you Talking about?

(Gomer) YOU BROUGHT UP SLAW DOGS, THATS A U-TURN. GIVE YOURSELF A TICKET!!

No, you don't understand, I was acting in an official capacity, and a
veteran of the Digest, and a self-proclaimed deputy.

(Allan) What seems to be the problem here, Untrained? And what's this
deputy business?

Well I was just explaining the rules and this boob here comes in says
CITIZENS AREAST CITIZENS ARRREST!!

(Allan) Untrained, did I ask for your help on this? Did I make you a
deputy? Hadn't we already put the slaw dog thing to bed? Didn't you
actually do a U-turn and bring it back up?

Well Yeah, but I was acting as...and official sort of friend of... Deputy
sort-of..

(Allan) Write your self out a ticket Untrained Voice!!

You're kidding, right!! You've got to be Kidding, Allan!

(Allan) Write yourself out a ticket! (Digest Crowd) Hooray!!

Alright! I'll write out a ticket! I've been one of your most frequent
contributors here at the Digest..but that's just fine!! I'll write myself
out a ticket and I Hereby arrest Myself!!!

Folks were pondering which episodes had the least scene changes, how about
episodes with the most. Two that come to my mind are "Those Gossiping Men" and
"Ellie Runs For City Council".

Hey Everybody,

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. I am so grateful that we could live
free one more year to celebrate it.

I heard or seen on here that Miss Donohue left TAGS for personal reasons. She
said she would have liked to remain on the show, but she couldn't. I have to
say she was my favorite of all of Andy's girlfriends. I liked Peggy and Helen
also, but Ellie is my favorite.

Our local TV station, KFSM channel 5 from Fort Smith, Arkansas had a Andy All
American Weekend mini-marathon. They showed TAGS episodes on Saturday and
Sunday from 12-5pm. It was goooood! Different news people described their
favorite episodes. It was nice, real nice!

Have A Great Mayberry Week!!!

I have spent some time on this Holiday weekend, watching the Twilight Zone
marathon on the Sci-Fi network. Seems like every time I turn around, there
was another face from TAGS.... what a treasure-trove of TAGS alumni
sightings! Watching old shows like that sure does keep my eyes keen!

Subject: Mayberry in the Midwest III update
Date: Mon, 5 Jul 2004 11:20:39 -0400

We just wanted to give everyone some final information before this week's
"Mayberry in the Midwest III." All information for the event is updated on
our website mayberryinthemidwest.com It includes: An updated detailed
schedule of events including where each star will be during the Friday
afternoon autograph sessions, Ticket information - tickets are still on sale
and will even be available at each event site on the days of the event, so you
can still make a last minute decision to join us, travel directions, hotel
information, a detailed list of all the items and packages that will be
auctioned on Friday's "An Evening of Mayberry" and much more.
On a disappointing note, we received word from Arlene Golonka that she will
not be able to join us for this year's event. Her husband had major surgery
at the end of this past week. Everything went well but she feels she needs to
be with him the next few weeks. I know we are all disappointed since Arlene
had not attended a Mayberry event for several years but we totally understand
that these things can happen and the welfare of our families are our number
one priority.
Looking forward to seeing everyone July 9-10!

Just what does tick a lock mean? Where did that expression come from?
Barney says it, Aunt Bee says it. Anyone else on TAGS say it?

I was watching The Darling's episode today and noticed something that I have
never really
paid attention to before. The horse trough has an inscription of Let No Horse
Go Thirsty Here
David Mendlebright 1870-1933. Do we ever hear in any other episodes if he is
any kin to Mrs.
Mendlebright that runs the rooming house where Barney stays?
Also I was trying to place exactly where in Mayberry that the horse trough is
located.
Any one know? I'm thinking maybe near the feed and grain but I can't really
say for sure.

Also in the same episode (and several others) the bus that drops off Dud Walsh
says Macon on the front.
I wondered if this was a reference to Macon GA or is there a Macon in NC also?

>>>I am just wondering if anyone knows whether or not there is sheet music

>>>That Lonesome Road and maybe There is a Time. It would be nice to have
>>>these songs because they would make a nice addition to my ladies musicale

Thanks to anyone who knows the answer,
The County Nurse<<<

I wanted some of those songs too so did an internet search. I found one site
-sheetmusic.com, I believe it was. I emailed customer service explaining what
I was looking for and I got a very prompt and courteous reply with several
links to songbooks with listings of all the songs in them and an example of the
music notation. I bought one that has (The) Lonesome Road, Cindy, The Crawdad
Song, Down in the Valley (the one Andy and Peggy sang on the front porch),
Santa Lucia, and lots of other songs. It is called the Golden Encyclopedia of
Folk Music and is published by Lewis Publishing Company. It is written for
Piano, Vocal and Guitar. It has about 183 songs in it and I love it. It cost
$19.95 plus shipping. I think it was a great deal.

Also, Maude, thanks for the tip about the chickens pushing a trailer. If you
hear anything, let me know but try not to make a big moulage about it. If I
see the warden, I'll tell him that you are being a good citizen. Maybe he'll
let you go on house arrest at Aunt Bee's. Wait! Maybe that's not so good an
idea. Do you like scrubbing floors, chopping wood and ironing? We'd better
warn Harriet's chickens that we have a security light on the end of our house
now. Kinda like locking the barn after the horse is stolen. Another good
thing to remember is that little old ladies ought never go clank unless they're
headed for the clink.

Dear Country Nurse,
The correct site is http://www.sheetmusiccatalog.com/. If you go to the bottom
and see where they have Contact Us, you can write with a listing of what you
are looking for, or you can do a search by song title. Lotsa luck to you and
yours.

I know this has to be one of the most long range requests made to the TAGS
community, but here goes.

I am looking to purchase a set of the Hawthorne Mayberry Village Collection for
my wife's 35 anniversary gift. She saw one recently and asked if I could find
her one. Considering how well she has treated me over the years, I am now in
hot pursuit. Please email me if you have any knowledge as to where one can be
purchased.

Hey everyone...

I hope y'all had a wonderful holiday weekend!

I just thought I'd share a little Mayberry Moment with you...

The other morning, our cat was walking through each bedroom and making the
most annoying noise. It was that mournful and LOUD kind of meowing a cat can
do... she was wanting to go outside.

Well, I heard my daughter, whose room is right across the hall from mine, get
up, grab the cat, and as she was headed to put her outside, she said, "I've
heard just about enough about that tomato!"

I was lying in the bed laughing out loud. I LOVE it when TAGS quotes are what
automatically comes to our minds!

Oh, and yesterday... we were doing a major cleanup in our garage... and there
was something that one of my daughter's was trying to move from a tight space.
So, my husband/her daddy walks over to help her move the heavy object that was
blocking it... He said, "Here, let me help you." And, guess what she said...
"I wish you would... I'm gettin' tensed!"

Okay... okay... I could go on and on... but, I just wanted to share that first
one... then, you got a freebie to boot!

Oh, and Gloria... I laughed at your little message that slipped in one last
hot dog reference! Funny!

Well... y'all have a great summer. Keep those great messages coming. It's
great to share all the TAGS memories and thoughts and moments with fellow
Andy-lovers! I enjoy you all so much!

With the Flip Wilson marathon running this weekend, I got to see Andy, Don,
Jim Nabors and even Jack Burns as guest stars. Got me to wondering, did
Frances Bavier ever do any guest shots on anything? Heck, she could always
bang out "Chinatown" on the old upright.
