Now here is one for all of you trained noticers. I observed quite a few people
getting on and off the bus in Mayberry (Ellen Brown, Dud Wash, O'Malley, even
Aunt Bee), but I never did see any bus station. Our hometown was about the
same size of Mayberry (in the final show there is a sign at the depot that says
the population of Mayberry is 5360) in the 1960's and we had a well equiped bus
station where they had restrooms, sold candy and bus tickets with several
benches. One of my clearest memories was sitting in that bus station waiting
for the bus that would carry me off to the Army and the Viet Nam war and coming
back on the bus to the same station. Someone said God gave us memories so we
could have roses in winter.
