I grew up in a small town also, but we didn't have a bus station either. We had
an auto parts store that was the stopping place for the Trailways bus that came
through town. You could buy your ticket in the store and wait outside for the
bus to stop. They would have the schedule for the buses in the store also, so
that you could check on the times you wanted to travel. Later on the stopping
place moved to the "red dot" store in town. That's when my Daddy decided we
didn't need to ride the bus to get to where I needed to go. Until then I
thought that it was a great adventure to ride the bus from my small town of
Hampton,SC to the big city of Columbia,SC to spend time with my brother. Almost
as good as sleeping on the ironing board between two chairs.
