Ted, I think the purpose of Goober ripping his suit was so he could then be given Andy's more stylish navy blue suit.......he would look more successful and worldly than in his double-breasted 1940's style suit........he was probably still wearing that brown suit back when he last saw his old rival! (That's my story and I'm sticking to it! haha) Great show about the meaning of success, pride and true compassion......
