As a Nebraska Cornhusker fan, I hate to mention the Oklahoma Sooners, but they
had a head coach for two seasons (1964-65) named Gomer Jones. Gomer was an
assistant for Coach Bud Wilkinson and succeeded him upon his retirement, but
had a losing record over two seasons and resigned, changing his last name and
joining the Marine Corps (just kidding about the last part).
