Didn't Gomer attribute his singing voice to a high roof in his mouth? If so, I just watched John Barrymore in "Svengali". He is a voice teacher and takes a pretty young gal who really can't sing and hynotizes her into singing good enough to tour Europe on stage. He tells the other men that he is associated with that she has a "high roof in her mouth."
