It was a great pleasure for Brenda and me to be able to attend Mayberry Days
this year.   What a delight it was to meet and talk with Betty Lynn (Thelma
Lou), Elinor Donahue (Miss Ellie, my very favorite pharmacist), Maggie Peterson
(Charlene Darling), Jackie Joseph (Sweet Romeena), and others.   These
wonderful celebrities made us feel right at-home and comfortable with them --
what beautiful people.   Maggie discussed with us once again her roots in
Greeley, Colorado, and her start at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, our home
area.   We are proud to claim a couple of TAGS cast members who came from our
great state (Maggie and Denver Pyle).

Family obligations took some of our time and we weren't able to meet as many of
you fellow Mayberrians as we would have liked.   Jim Clark was as cordial and
personable as ever (have known him for years), and we were privileged to meet
Allan for the first time.    Thanks to all of you who make this a very special,
heart-warming event year after year.   As I've written repeatedly in the past,
Mayberry is all about friendship, and for that I thank you.

We were not able to attend the TAGSRWC annual meeting on Saturday afternoon.
Last time I did that, I was the one who traveled the greatest distance to
attend Mayberry Days.   I'm curious to know if anyone attending this year beat
the 1,563 miles we traveled from our home to Mount Airy.   Also, I would love
to see some sort of system where TAGSRWC members attending Mayberry Days could
wear tags identifying their names, chapters, and hometowns.   This would make
it a bit easier to connect with others who also return to the Mayberry of their
hearts.

God bless us all.
