I had a very interesting Sunday as I wore my complete Barney uniform to church and then gave two presentations at our continental breakfast. We are a big church with over 2500 members so there are always many people one does not know. When we shared the peace the woman in front of me turned around and when she saw me in uniform with a gun and holster her eyes got really big. (Our three pastor's knew I was going to wear my toy gun) as I explained how Barney wore his uniform and gun to church one time. They thought it would add a lot to the event. Most people laughed when I came in as they knew all about me and nothing I ever do surprises them. I just told people that it was Halloween and that I thought we were supposed to wear costumes to church. When the service was over the lady turned to me and said she didn't realize that I was a sheriff and she was wondering if I was on duty and that is why I wore my uniform to church. She had a real laugh when I explained the situation to her. Presentations went very well and everyone enjoyed the video with Andy, Opie, and poor Horatio. I did the presentation twice and both pastors who introduced me did an excellent job of explaining what I do and how important TAGS in because of the values that are intertwined throughout each episode. I received several requests following the breakfasts to do presentations at civic groups.
