Dewey, those were some great memories. If my memory is working correctly the
PF in PF Flyers was short for Posture Foundation. That goes way back.
Remember
as a kid we always had a drawer in the kitchen full of green stamps. Whenever
we needed a new toaster or coffee pot, we'd sit around the kitchen table and
glue green stamps into the books. We also had the metal ice trays with the
levers. If you got one out of the freezer with wet hands, they'd stick to the
metal. I never cared for Blackjack gum, I preferred Clove or Beeman's.
We still have a couple drive-in movies in the area. There is one in Moneta
near
Smith Mtn. Lake near the Mayberry Diner. There is the Star-Light in
Christiansburg Va. But the best is Hull's Drive-in about an hour away in
Lexington. The spaces are terraced up a hill so even if a big pick-up truck
parks in front of you, you can see over it. My wife and I try to get up there
at least twice a summer. Great cheeseburgers. Get there early though, it
oftens fills up.
