Dewey, love the memories. You mentioned Knock-Knock jokes. In the early 60"s
we also told elephant jokes. Ex: Why does an elephant paint his toenails
red?
So he can hide in the cherry tree. Have you ever seen an elephant in a cherry
tree? Works pretty good, doesn't it? Or, What's red and white on the outside
and gray and white on the inside? Campbell's Cream of Elephant Soup.
We put taps on our weejens but it wan't necessarily for the sound. It kept the
leather heals from wearing out so fast. They were expensive to replace.
I still like to watch What's My Line and I've Got a Secret on Youtube. It's
amazing to see how times change. On one of the I've Got a Secret's the other
night, the prize for the guest was $50.00 and a carton of Winston cigarettes.
Guess who the sponsor was??
Your sweet tea and biscuits was my grandmother's sweet clove tea and homemade
yeast roles. Great for dipping into tea.
A warning we always got when we were rough housing was, "It's always fun til
someone loses an eye".
