Yes, Victor, I wholeheartedly agree with you that Peggy would have been much better for Andy than Helen for the very reasons you mentioned below. I'll bet Peggy even cooked a mean leg of lamb too (Andy's favorite dish).
I met Peggy McMillan (Joanna Moore) once at the 35th anniversary cast reunion show in Winston-Salem, NC in 1995. I got my picture made with her and told her that she should have married Andy. She agreed! She was really nice to talk to. Unfortunately, she passed away shortly after that, so I was pleased to get to meet her while I could. She was Tatum O'Neal's real mother too. But you forgot one other important attribute Peggy had that Helen didn't: her daddy was rich! He owned the R&M Grain Elevators in Raleigh and bought her that nice car. Andy wouldn't have to get a second job at the LaunderCoin if he had married Peggy. There was one jealousy between Andy and Peggy when Peggy's friend Don came to down (that hungry buzzard). Wouldn't you know his name was Don? Mr. Schwump >Peggy would have been as good or better match for Andy than Helen...Let's take >a look at that thing... >1. Both Andy and Helen showed a sense of jealousy toward one another? >? ?Helen (Fun Girls, lady lawyer, Andy's cousin) >? ?Andy ( Bob, and The teacher she worked with,)..There was no jealousy shown >between Andy and Peggy >2. Both Helen and Peggy had issues with Opie but they were both worked out... >3. Peggy loved to cook for Andy and Opie, Helen said her husband would have to >eat TV dinners >4. Peggy went fishing with Andy and Opie, Helen never did >5. Peggy showed a "mother figure" toward Opie, Helen seemed to stay at a >professional level >6. Peggy sat on the porch and shared time with Andy and Opie, Opie was never >included in Helen's time with Andy >7. Peggy even went so far as to become a blood brother to Opie and tuck him >into bed... _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
