Windows media encoder at least the current release candidate is available at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/wm7/encoder.asp quick look around the site lead me to the current version at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/WM8/encoding.asp
Here's an article on comparing using a standard web server to deliver the media vs using a dedicated streaming server http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/compare/webservvstreamserv .asp Seems to me that at least basic windows media services came with the Windows 2000 Advanced server we host our intranet on. I'm not where I can check that server's configuration but I do recall seeing it as an option during setup. I don't think we installed it because we don't have a need for it but I'm sure something on msdn.microsoft.com or one of the other sections of the MS site would be able to answer that question. That was just the beginning of what a quick "google" returned. Cheryl D. I would rather choose a solution which doesnt cost anything for the company rather than investing for this. Well to use real media format for streaming do I need to have real player in all the client pc's ? Then, the question is how do I go about creating a streaming video using real player on the web page ? Please do give me a step by step process of the same as I am totally a newbie to this part of the web world. Please do give me some links from where I can learn more about the same. If I have to use media player can u just let me know how much would I have to spend for the same for investing on the windows media server and the windows media encoder, atleast a rough cost idea.
