probably because a bg color was not declared so the users choice of background will show. If the webguy/gal declares what color the bg is supposed to be like #FFFFFF it wil be #FFFFFF but if not then the user chooses the bg color. This works for the fonts as well. Now the user can chose any font he wants even dingbats as his default so it might be a little difficult to read.. Try it. Go to Internet Options Fonts then change the default or change the color for your preferences Now for some fun go to View Text Size and change that as well.
