I get many, many such emails. Many of them come from submitting a site to search engines. I agree that all such emails professing to put my client's website as #1, are all spam. One client of mine, Tubeworks paid hefty sums to be listed #1 on several search engines, however, when I created Skydancers, I did the usual search engine submissions dmoz, and others etc. and Tubeworks did receive more orders from Skydancers than Tubeworks did. Go figure.

I have heard great things about Web Position Gold, so I downloaded the trial version, liked it, and have promised myself to get it soon.

Hi Jac,

I agree 100% with Rudy. Nothing in necessary to get you a top placement
other than good, smart coding. However, there are resources I have used
from time to time to as helps:

http://www.webposition.com/ (helps with your keywords and lets you know
where you are placed on certain search engines and if you dropped or
gained a position)

Then there are various free webpages out there that will check your page
to see if it is optimized:

http://www.northernwebs.com/set/setsimjr.html
http://www.wordtracker.com/
http://www.scrubtheweb.com/abs/meta-check.html
http://www.keywordcount.com/

If you are really wanting to spend money on including your website with
search engines, I would recommend http://inktomi.com/

A word with you, Rudy. I would suggest that you not ignore Altavista
and Yahoo. They are heavy hitting search engines as well.

Am I supposed to be off today? :)

HTH,
Will
