Rudy and Bob,
Java and JavaScript are 2 different things
I think Dave knows this :) I got the impression that he was asking for a Java applet because he feared Opera doesn't support JavaScript, and therefore wanted to use an alternate technology (Java).
Bingo! <grin>
As far as I know, *some* javascript works in Opera. However, its support for operations on the DOM of the page seemed quite limited the last time I checked. I suspect it supports enough javascript to do a simple slideshow program, though, if no fancy transitions are required. Any Opera buffs want to weigh in on this?
Actually, I found some JavaScript code for a "rudimentary" slideshow that appears to work just fine. I just tested it with Opera and it works! Hopefully my client won't want to get "fancy" on me.
My only problem is building the file list in ASP... The filesystem object doesn't support wildcards and there are over 1,000 images in the folder I need to scan for the slideshow. It slows loading of the page by a second or two. I'll have to find a way to speed that up.
