My father-in-law after years of "hand me down" computers from us decided he
was going to buy his own last year and transfer all of his family photos,
journals, etc. to disk. So he bought himself a pretty high end machine with
flat panel monitor.

He's got very bad arthritis that has him one step above being confined to a
wheelchair. He probably should be using a wheelchair anyway but he won't
admit it. He is very unstable when getting up even with the help of a lift
chair. He's been lucky so far that he hasn't broken a hip in his two falls.
One has already stopped his ability to drive (broken shoulder and now he
can't lift it high enough to turn a steering wheel). So the computer and his
movie collection are his primary entertainment toys.

Very frustrating for someone who used to fly airplanes (real one and also
made his own 3-6 foot working models) and was very involved in his kids
activities like hiking and loves to travel.

On a good day he'll play Flight Simulator instead of "Patience".

(As one limping with 500Mhz and 256RAM) I can only think he may play
solitaire (we call it Patience) very, very fast!
