  Excellent point and a great article too!  I think you're dead on
with that.  I wasn't thinking of it enough like a template.

  I'll happily do whatever I can on the programming end of things.
That is to say, I'm proficient in ASP/VBscript and am adequate in 
PHP, XML and XSL.  Also, I'm great with CSS, so I'd be happy to 
implement the winning design in XHTML and CSS or help with it.  
  I'm pretty excited about this, sounds like a really fun project.
I work on a team of developers now and have experience organizing
team programming efforts, but have never done it on a distributed
level, so this should be really cool :)
