I would suggest you start with classic asp first.

Since the files have and .asp extension rather than .aspx, I am assuming
they are classic asp. From my reading, I gathered that I should learn
asp.net rather than the older asp. I only  want to learn the basics -- I

not a web programmer and don't want to be. However, I do want to be able

maintain these pages and perhaps do a few simple asp.net things. For
anything complicated I will need to bring in an expert.

Should I just learn classic asp and forget .net? I don't want to learn
something that is obsolete.
