Did you authorize the Bat to access the internet? I've not had a problem with zone alarm blocking something I authorized to get out. Make sure you have it set to ask you whenever a program tries to get out until you assign it a permission setting. If you aren't using Outlook/Outlook Express don't let it configure the "common" programs but do it yourself. There are certain files that need to get out usually logon programs if you use a dial-up or have an internal network. There are others that are ones Windows uses to manage tcp/ip as well.
