Stephen,

I'm using html-kit which is probably similar, using colour and bold to show
what is happening. Of course it needs me to know what it is signifying,
which is beginning to happen! But the quotes do not stand out, though
sometimes the part affected is visible by being the wrong colour.

But it is the old problem of when it is not there one needs to know it
should be! I do seriously need to visit the optician; there is just that
slight loss of definition, and I was set up with reading, monitor and other
glasses, but my eyes seem to change with some regularity - sometimes the
change is improvement!

Code, of course, needs a high definition. --- And that has made me
search to make the face larger; 12pt is quite good. Perhaps I'll spot
the typos more easily - and work out the script author's errors with less
aggro!

Code completion sound good, so I'll have a look. Off to Google..

Joe,
  re:

"I can't see a missing quote a first glance"

a good editor should pick up things like this with syntax
highlighting. If you're looking for a good, free PHP editor for
windows, which does support syntax highlighting and code completion
just to name a couple, you might try phpEdit[1]. I've been using it
for a couple of months now and like it quite a lot and after spending
a few days getting it configured and tweaked, it does pretty much
everything I could ask for, all in a neat, free little package :)

My only gripe is that development doesn't seem to be incredibly
active. Not inactive, just not overly so.

hth,
Stephen
