For my part, I don't think either of these designs stands on it's own
well. That said, I think a minor recombinant of the two could be a
hell of a winning pair! The color scheme of #1 is doubtless much
warmer. The layout of #2 is much better IMO... the use of space just
feels better. Plus I just like fixed columns.
I'd use #2's layout as a starting point and use #1's color scheme and
imagery... probably that drop shadow on the sides too.
Maybe the important thing to remember here is that you're doing a work
for hire and sometimes we don't see eye to eye with the client, but
they're still the boss. Now, I'll certainly raise a stink over
certain things ('no! I will not make your real estate company's logo
float around the screen or make half the screen undulate colors
between hot pink and watermelon striped green'), but I don't think
you're at that point.
